Amphotericin B Phospholipid Complex

Amphotericin B Phospholipid Complex is a prescription medication used for treating systemic fungal infections.

• Acetaminophen/caffeine/pyrilamine is available under the following different brand names: Abelcet

Adult and pediatric dosage

Injectable, lipid complex

• 5mg/mL

Systemic Fungal Infection

Adult and pediatric dosage

• 5 mg/kg IV every day; infuse IV at rate of 2.5 mg/kg/hr

Common side effects of Amphotericin B Phospholipid Complex include:

• fever,
• chills,
• nausea,
• vomiting, and
• abnormal kidney function tests.

Serious side effects of Amphotericin B Phospholipid Complex include:

• hives,
• difficulty breathing,
• swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat,
• fever,
• lightheadedness,
• shortness of breath,
• new or worsening cough,
• wheezing,
• trouble breathing,
• blue lips,
• blue-colored fingers or toes,
• easy bruising,
• unusual bleeding,
• purple or red spots under the skin,
• slow heart rate,
• weak pulse,
• fainting,
• slow breathing (breathing may stop),
• little or no urinating,
• swelling in the feet or ankles,
• tiredness,
• shortness of breath,
• muscle spasms or contractions,
• numbness or tingling,
• dizziness,
• irregular heartbeats,
• feeling jittery,
• muscle cramps,
• cough or choking feeling,
• leg cramps,
• constipation,
• fluttering in the chest,
• increased thirst or urination, and
• muscle weakness or limp feeling.

Cautions

• Indicated for patients with progressive and potentially fatal fungal infections
• Do not use for noninvasive fungal infections (e.g., oral thrush, vaginal candidiasis, esophageal candidiasis) in patients with normal neurophil counts

• Lactation
