  • Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, coordination loss, unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors.
  • Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights.
  • Serious heart symptoms include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, light-headedness, or passing out

What Are the Dosages of Avacincaptad Pegol Intravitreal?

Adult dosage

Injectable solution for intravitreal use

  • 20 mg/mL single-dose vial

Geographic Atrophy

Adult dosage

  • 2 mg (0.1 mL) by intravitreal injection to each affected eye once monthly (approximately 28 ± 7 days) for up to 12 months

Cautions

  • Use may be associated with increased rates of neovascular (wet) AMD or choroidal neovascularization; monitor for signs of neovascular AMD
  • Transient increases in intraocular pressure observed after administration; monitor perfusion of optic nerve head following injection and manage accordingly
  • Endophthalmitis and retinal detachments
    • Intravitreal injection may be associated with endophthalmitis and retinal detachments
    • Use proper aseptic technique during administration to minimize the risk of endophthalmitis
    • Instruct patients to promptly report any symptoms suggestive of endophthalmitis or retinal detachment and manage appropriately

Pregnancy and Lactation

  • There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of use in pregnant women
  • Lactation
    • There is no information regarding the presence of avacincaptad pegol in human milk or its effects on breastfed infants or milk production
