Benzalkonium chloride/menthol/petrolatum topical is an over-the-counter (OTC) product used for the temporary relief of pain and itching associated with fever blisters and cold sores; as first aid to protect against skin infection in minor cuts, scrapes and burns; and to help prevent, temporarily protect, and relieve chapped lips.

Dosage Forms and Strengths

Topical Gel

• 0.13%/1%/97%

Dosage Considerations – Should be Given as Follows:

Cold Sores or Fever Blisters

• For the temporary relief of pain and itching associated with fever blisters and cold sores
• Apply topically to affected three to four times daily

Cuts, Scrapes, and Burns

• First aid to protect against skin infection in minor cuts, scrapes and burns
• Apply topically to affected three to four times daily

Chapped Lips

• Helps prevent, temporarily protects and helps relieve chapped or cracked lips
• Apply topically to affected three to four times daily

Administration

Massage gently until gel absorbed into the skin

Warnings

• This medication contains benzalkonium chloride/menthol/petrolatum topical. Do not take Herpetrol if you are allergic to benzalkonium chloride/menthol/petrolatum topical or any ingredients contained in this drug.
• Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
