Scary. Had a secondary cough from a flu virus and was prescribed it in Emergency Room. Worse than useless, it made it difficult to breathe. Scary experience and will never use it again. Seems like the Emergency Rooms give this out just to appease patients. A placebo would be safer.

Took it after being diagnosed with Covid. It definitely helps control cough. Side effect with me was dizziness.

I was diagnosed with bronchitis. The physician prescribed this medication, which is a liquid gel capsule that can be taken every eight hours. It did absolutely nothing for my cough. I think the best remedy for cough relief is codeine, which is no longer prescribed due to its addictive effects and misuse. There are other liquid cough syrups available which mimic codeine’s relief and are not addictive. Ask your doctor to prescribe one of these in place of Benzonatate.

Treatment for coughing due to mild bronchitis. About an hour after first dose the urge to cough was definitely less. I was able to sleep without waking up due to coughing. Experienced headache and lethargy the day after first taking it but not sure if those side effects are due to the Benzonatate. It almost eliminated my coughing though.

I was scared to take this after reading some of the reviews, but my throat hurt so bad that I was willing to try anything. It worked amazingly for me! I couldn't believe the pain minimized enough for me to be comfortable and I was coughing less! You just don't know how it will work with your body unless you try. I will ask my doctor for this every single time I get a sore throat or cough!!

A totally USELESS medication. Waste of money. Did nothing to help my cough. NOTHING!!

I've been taking this for 3 days. It does nothing for my cough.

Did not help my cough, in fact exasperated it by burning throat sensation, brought on more coughing b/c I couldn’t get the cough. I would say w/out more reasearch per user, this drug is borderline dangerous.

I use this almost every fall and winter. I have asthma and seem to catch bronchitis when the season changes or the temperature drops drastically. This definitely keeps me from getting a head and or vomiting from coughing. This does the trick for me every time and I have yet to experience any side effects.

prescribed for a nasty productive cough from strep and bronchitis -- still had bad coughing fits and my cough still kept me up at night, but it wasn't to the point where my head was hurting or I was vomiting which is what usually happens when I have bronchitis. I usually just use mucinex dm which brings my cough down to lasting 3-4 awful weeks, but using this with mucinex dm has my cough getting better much faster. I still wake up coughing in the middle of the night once the 8 hours are done, but I just take my next dose and am eventually able to fall asleep again. didn't expect much from this med based on reviews and was pleasantly surprised!

Tested positive for Covid. Told them I couldn’t stop coughing even with syrups and lozenges. Did absolutely zero for me. In fact, I woke up so much more throughout the night from coughing spells

Had upper respiratory infection with a cough. I had severe cough with wheezing, especially at bedtime. The wheezing sounded like two cats fighting. It would keep me awake at night and I couldn't get any restful sleep. My doctor subscribed Benzonatate 100mg to take 3 times a day. After the first capsule I no longer wheezed and finally was able to get serious sleep. My opinion is it help me heal much quicker. I did research the med and was glad it is non-narcotic. The capsules are tiny and must be swallowed whole and definitely not chewed.

Went to urgent care, tested positive for Covid. Allergic to dextromethorphan so they prescribed me this. Took it and I’m literally coughing considerably more often and the coughs are harsher. Lungs hurt now and throat feels even more painful and slightly itchy. Wish I had never taken it.

As a nurse, I tried it once when I had a severe bronchitis after noticing it helped my patients. It was the best help at reducing my cough while I had bronchitis! Now, whenever I get severe cough I request it from my doctor. A great medication for severe cough.
