Adam J. Cohen, MD, FACS

Dr. Adam J. Cohen, MD, FACS, is originally from Brooklyn, NY. He graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College and attended medical school at Albany Medical College.

After completing two years of internal medicine training at Staten Island University Hospital he was accepted and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, NY. He has been fellowship trained in oculoplastic and orbital surgery as well as neuro-ophthalmology in addition to completing a prestigious craniofacial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery fellowship. He is one of the few oculoplastic surgeons to complete a craniofacial fellowship and receive this level of rigorous and extensive training.

Dr. Cohen is in private practice where is specializes in oculoplastic and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He continues to devote office hours to neuro-ophthalmology as well. As Section Director of oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery at Rush University Medical Center and an attending physician at NorthShore University Health Systems he treats and operates on a wide variety of patients and enjoys the opportunity to teach residents.

He has published textbooks on lacrimal disorders and surgery and a comprehensive textbook on blepharoptosis. He has published over 50 articles and professional papers both traditionally and electronically. In addition, he lectures and teaches on a national and international level. Dr. Cohen is a fellow of the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstrucive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and American College of Surgeons. Currently, he is the only ophthalmologist ever to be elected as a member of the Young Fellows Association within the American College of Surgeons.

In his downtime, Dr. Cohen is an avid cyclist, and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
