Dr. Kaminstein is a Board Certified Gastroenterologist, who is presently not in active medical practice due to disability. Before disability, Dr. Kaminstein practiced Gastroenterology/Hepatology in West Chester, PA for over 15 years. He served as Chief of Gastroenterology until he discontinued practice in 1993. While in practice he served on several hospital committees, and was instrumental in developing the hospital's Endoscopy Suite and created the Nutritional Support Committee (serving as its' first chairman). Dr. Kaminstein received his formal medical training in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Medical College of PA and obtained Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 1974 and Gastroenterology in 1977. He is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and is a member of numerous Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology Societies.

Dr. Kaminstein has always had an interest in Physician and Patient Education. During his years in practice he gave several lectures to both the hospital staff (for CME Credit) and the lay public, including some to the local senior citizen's organizations. In 1992 he became Physician Advisor to the Chester County Satellite Support Group of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). Although no longer in active practice, Dr. Kaminstein has remained committed to Education, stating; "I believe an informed patient will be less likely to be dissatisfied and much more likely to comply with a treatment plan". In 1995, he began writing articles for the CCFA's Delaware Valley Quarterly Magazine- "Communique`, and is now a regularly featured columnist. He contributed an article to the CCFA National Magazine "FOCUS". He has also started an "Ask the Doctor" section of the Communique` Newsletter. Dr. Kaminstein's interest in writing has led him to become one of the American Medical Writers Association of America (AMWA).
