DWIGHT MAKOFF, MD

Dr. Makoff obtained his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his residency as Junior Assistant Resident in Medicine, Renal Fellow and Teaching Fellow at Tufts, New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He was Senior Assistant Resident in Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Teaching Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Renal Fellow at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. 

From 1966 to 1969, Dr. Makoff served as Assistant Research Nephrologist and Lecturer in Medicine at UCLA. From 1968 to 1972 he served as Research Physiologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Research Institute. He was the Medical Director of the Renal Dialysis Center, Los Angeles New Hospital from 1976 to 1984. From July of 1982 to  July of 1984 he was Chief of Staff and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Beverly Hills Medical Center. From 1996 to 1998 he served as Clinical Chief of Nephrology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Since 1984 he has served as the Medical Director of the Beverly Hills Dialysis Center and as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine.

Dr. Makoff is a member of the Los Angeles Medical Association, the American Society of Nephrology, a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine (since December of 1968). He is also a member of the International Society of Nephrology, the Kidney Foundation of Southern California, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (since 1971). Most recently, he was accepted as a member of the American Society of Hypertension Specialists Program as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension, a designation that recognizes specialists in hypertension.
