Dr. White graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in biochemistry in 1965. He received his medical degree from the School of Medicine, University of Southern California in 1969. He completed his internship and surgical residency at the Los Angeles County, University of Southern California Medical Center from 1969-1974. While serving in the Air Force, he was Chief of Surgery at Castle Air Force Base, 1974-1976. He is board certified in general surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. From 1976 to 2002, he was in private surgical practice in Laguna Hills, California. He has maintained a special interest in molecular biology and oncology. He was previously a Co-Director of the Memorial Care Breast Center at Saddleback, Saddleback Hospital, Laguna Hills, California. This breast center is a multidisciplinary breast care center developed in 1986. Dr. White has been a participating investigator in NSABP (The National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project) studies and affiliated with studies at the University of California, Irvine. He has since relocated and now practices in the Hartford, Connecticut, area, where he has worked to develop a small community based multidisciplinary team for breast cancer care and also participates in major urban center breast cancer programs. He is a member of the American Society of Breast Diseases.
