Gary D. Vogin, MD, provides intensive reviews of medical content on WebMD Health, acts as moderator of the General Health Message Board, and is medical editor for Medscape Medical News.
Dr. Vogin is a board-certified general internist, having completed his residency in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia in June 1994. Before deciding on internal medicine, Vogin prepared for a career in pathology and was Outstanding Transitional First Year Graduate at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., in 1991. He is a 1986 summa cum laude graduate from La Salle University in Philadelphia, where he was part of the National Premedical Honors Society. He graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in biology before beginning his medical training at Temple University School of Medicine, where his interest in medical computing culminated in his role as group leader of the Computers in Medicine Primary Care Project.
Following residency, Vogin gained wider experience as a Locum Tenens Physician, working in small towns and big cities in many parts of the country including the White Mountains of New Hampshire; the mountains of central Pennsylvania; New Mexico; Chicago; and Tampa and Clearwater, Fla.
Ultimately, he settled into the Primary Care Division of the Emory Clinic in Atlanta, where he held the academic position of assistant professor of Emory University Department of Medicine.
Vogin's affiliations include the American College of Physicians, Union of Concerned Scientists, and Physicians for a National Health Plan.
