Maude Bancroft Hecht, RN
Maude Bancroft Hecht, RN was born in 1964 in Rochester, New York. She moved at
an early age with her family to Seattle, Washington, and then Portland, Oregon,
where she graduated from high school at Portland Community College at age 16.
She attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts from which she received
a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. She then went to Madrid, Spain and Los
Palmas in the Canary Islands, studied and worked there for some years and, in
the process, became fluent in Spanish. She did further studies, with emphasis on
mathematics and computer sciences, at Wells College in Aurora, New York and at
Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She became an Emergency Medical
Technician and served as an EMT with the Lansing (NY) Fire Department. Following
the birth of her son Alexander in 1990, she moved to El Paso, Texas.
Maude Hecht then attended the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) from which she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She became a Registered Nurse (RN) and worked in intensive care, the emergency room, and surgery in El Paso. Then she received a Master of Science in Nursing (Community Health Nursing) from UTEP. She next attended the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and became a Nurse Practitioner in August 2003. She works in Infectious Diseases as a Nurse Practitioner in El Paso.
