Mitchell J. Gitkind, MD

Dr. Gitkind is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is a board-certified internist and gastroenterologist. Born in Chicago, he attended college at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester where he was President of the Student Body. He did his internal medicine residency at Worcester Memorial Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. His subspecialty training in gastroenterology was done through Tufts University at St. Elizabeth's and Faulkner Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts. Since 1990 he has practiced gastroenterology and hepatology at Memorial Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts, and there received a Teaching Award from the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He has special interests in inflammatory bowel disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, endoscopy, and liver disease.
