SAMUEL M. KEIM, MD
Dr. Keim received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University, where he studied Microbiology, Chemistry and Spanish. After graduating from The University of Arizona College of Medicine, he completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Los Angeles County King Drew Medical Center. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Keim has served as the Residency Program Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine at The University of Arizona since 1990. He is currently an Associate Professor with tenure and is finishing a master's degree in Epidemiology. He has served as President of the national Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors, and Oral Examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He was recently appointed to the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Dr. Keim has authored numerous peer-reviewed original scientific papers related to heat stroke, physician wellness, research methodology and evidence-based medicine. He has also written many textbook chapters and is Editor of the McGraw-Hill handbook, Emergency Medicine On Call. He is also the section editor for Evidence-Based Medicine for The Journal of Emergency Medicine. He is very proud to have served as author and Medical Editor for eMedicine Emergency Medicine and eMedicine Health.
