SANDRA GONZALEZ GOMPF, MD, FACP

Sandra Gonzalez Gompf, MD, is a U.S. board-certified Infectious Disease subspecialist. Dr. Gompf's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami and a Medical Degree from the University of South Florida. She completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida followed by subspecialty fellowship training there in Infectious Diseases under the directorship of Dr. John T. Sinnott, IV.

Dr. Gompf serves as Professor of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine for the University of South Florida and Chief of Infectious Disease Section at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa. She has served as the University's Faculty President, its first alumnus to assume this role. Her research interests include HIV, hepatitis, and resistant organisms. She has a broad list of publications including book chapters, medical journals, abstracts, and posters and an extensive teaching portfolio. She has been a reviewer for many medical journals, including Clinical Infectious Diseases. She has lectured extensively on HIV, and numerous other topics, such as resistant organisms. Dr. Gompf is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Dr. Gompf's special interests in medicine include HIV, antimicrobial resistance, and patient empowerment through education. She currently resides in Florida with her husband, a pediatric hospitalist and cherishes time with her family.
