Dr. Pulst studied medicine at Hannover Medical School in Germany and at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He completed his residency in neurology at the Longwood Neurology Program, Harvard Medical School. He trained further as a post-doctoral fellow in neurobiology at the University of California. Dr. Pulst is board certified in neurology. Dr. Pulst serves as professor of medicine in residence at the UCLA School of Medicine and is the director of neurology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Pulst directs a large molecular neuroscience laboratory that is funded by several grants from the National Institutes of Health. He is a member of a number of distinguished medical and scientific societies and is the founding chair of the section on neurogenetics of the American Academy of Neurology. He is also the current Scientific Director of the National Ataxia foundation. Dr. Pulst lectures frequently at medical centers, societies, and health organizations all over the world. He has an extensive list of published medical research and review articles, serves on several editorial boards, and has reviewed numerous articles for prestigious biomedical journals.
