THOMAS P. SOKOL, MD, FACS, FASCRS

Thomas P. Sokol, MD received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1980. He went on to his general surgical residency at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center and then to the Carle Clinic/ University of Illinois for Fellowship Training in Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Dr. Sokol has practiced at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for the last 18 years as a private practitioner in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. As a colon and rectal surgeon, he has limited his practice to the surgical and medical management of inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, diverticular disease, anorectal diseases, motility disorders of the colon and rectum, and surgical/diagnostic colonoscopy.

Dr. Sokol is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at UCLA and the assistant director of the free-standing colon and rectal surgical fellowship training program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is a prior Chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as well as a prior Chief of Surgery at both Midway Hospital and Century City Hospital. He is a past president of the Southern California Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
