Well I mean it did help me go to the bathroom, but this hasn't been a good experience at all. I've had the worst stomach ache since 3AM and haven't slept very well. I wasn't sure if I was going to throw up or not. Finally I was able to go to the bathroom at 6AM and my stomach does feel better, but now I have the worst case of diarrhea. It's so bad that I had explosive diarrhea, cleaned myself up, and had to sit down to have explosive diarrhea again. I think I've gone to the bathroom 5 times in 45 minutes and each time has been very large and completely liquid.

Took 2 tablets before bed 4am I was in agony with excruciating cramps then diarrhoea Then vomitting whilst sat on toilet. Then burning up and shaking all over. Panicking as never had this before taking a laxative. Started shivering took to my bed. Was up many times that day but just watery diarrhoea with blood in it Sometimes didn’t get to toilet in time. Now 3 days later still a little pain hardly had a bowel movement since that night and still small amount of mucus type blood drinking lots of water DO NOT TAKE THIS TABLET Will call Doctors tomorrow as bank holiday weekend

Doctor told me to take 4 tablets for bowel prep. He told me also to drink plenty of water pre, during and post to avoid the painful cramps. It worked quite well and I only experienced a couple of tolerable cramps however, during the window of wrath I decided to mow the lawns as I was feeling fine. Big mistake! I was pushing the mower up hill and I suddenly poohed my pants. Wasn't just a little bit but my whole colon emptied into my pants. It was really bad I had poo running down both legs and I was a mess. My wife and kids thought it was funny, I didn't. It was so bad I had to be washed like a dog outside. do not do any strenuous activity when in the window of wrath.

Never ever take more than one of these tablets. I took 2 last night, woke up at 4am, was on the toilet for ages, the cramps are the worse, it's now 4.30pm and still going to the loo. I have used these before. One was ok, but 2 was far to much.....Never again!!! now I have ended up with piles as well!!!!

I have chronic constipation, and have a routine set out if I have to resort to Dulcolax. I used to drink citro-mag (colonoscopy prep) to trigger a massive clear out. This stuff does the same thing but without having to drink that disgusting soap water- honestly it’s kind of insane how they market this stuff as a gentle option. You have to pre-plan this stuff- take it at night and make sure you have no where to be the next day. It will wake you up feeling sick. Personally, if I take it around 9pm, I’ll be woken up at 3am. To help with the nausea I take a gravol and alternate between blankets and stripping from the sweating. Have a cold water bottle at your side, and ride it out. Typically for me it’s about 3-4 hours after waking up of great discomfort before the BMs start happening- I find the first movement is large, solid and painful and then it’s swift and frequent diarrhea afterwards. Cramps and bloating are awful but if you have a heating pad handy I find that really helps. I’m serious, don’t take this stuff and expect a smooth quick experience. But it does work if you’re desperate. Don’t take it home alone, have a family member or close friend around to check in on you. I usually cry and have a panic attack after taking it because I know the pain is coming. Be warned and stay safe, take it responsibly and plan ahead.

I always get constipated when visiting family for the holidays. I forgot to bring the miralax and just couldn't go to the bathroom for days. My mom had some dulcolax and I figured it was worth a try. I took three pills last night before bed and woke up at 4am with the worst stomach ache. I tried to sleep it off but I woke up and had to vomit. I got a glass of water and went back to bed. It wasn't long before I had to go to the bathroom. Everything seemed fine at first. I was able to go to the bathroom and I felt better. So I went back to bed. I actually got to sleep a little more but then I woke up and had to run to the bathroom. I had the worst diarrhea I've had in a long time. I've been awake since then. It's 9am now and I've been on the toilet for hours with a terrible case of diarrhea.

I came on here after taking 4 tablets for a sigmoidoscopy prep and went into full panic all day after reading these reviews. I wanted to share my experience to provide people with SOME optimism. I do think that most reviews you find will be worse case scenarios. My experience was far from pleasant but it wasn’t as bad as people are describing. I took 4 tablets at 1:30pm and drank approximately 3 litres of water, gatorade and pedialyte between then and around 930pm when I started feeling its effects. I felt entirely normal for 8 hours and wanted to go to bed so I ate oatmeal which always triggers a bowel movement for me and sure enough it seemed to kickstart things somehow. The initial stomach discomfort and nausea was awful, felt like food poisoning but was to be expected. I did end up vomiting pretty violently for a very brief period and felt a little woozy and dizzy but this passed once I was able to go to the washroom. It took maybe 15 mins to evacuate everything and then I went and relaxed for about 2 hrs until the stomach ache came back and I went again. This time was not nearly as bad. I woke up at 430am with stomach discomfort (just felt like I really had to go to the washroom) and I went on and off for 30 minutes. This was about the end of it and come this morning my stomach feels a little unsettled but I think part of it is hunger. If it gives you peace of mind, I took 4 of these so presumably the effects of the regular dose for most people should be less severe. I do think it may be more painful for people with constipation though because their bowels actually have to work hard to move something along. I don’t know why they allow children to take this however, and I would never take this voluntarily. Given how many people throw up with even the recommended dose of this medication, I don’t think they should be calling this stuff gentle. Definitely recommend Miralax over this any day, it’s truly gentle, will just take much longer. But if you’ve already taken it and your worried, please try to relax! And drink a TON of water. This helps with the cramps.

Pretty constipated and normally take miralax or senna and wasn’t working fast enough this go around. Tried this one, they are small and easy to swallow, took it around 11pm, woke up at 5am so nauseous, luckily I had some soft an which barely helped, got sweaty and gurgling stomach then felt that I had to use the bathroom, ended up going some but I had expected more. I sipped water and waited for nausea to pass, all the next day I felt better but still under the weather and didn’t go anymore. After reading all these reviews I will not be taking them again, just going to stick with miralax or senna.

For this medication you can take 1-2 tablets per day by mouth, the tablets are very small and easy to consume. It says to take it at bed time as the effects would be 6-12 hrs from the time taken. I took two together at midnight with some water. I took this medication because I had constipation for 3 days, with difficulty passing and some bloating. I had taken it twice before in the past and it worked well. However this time I experienced more side effects. A side effect listed is dizziness and/or syncope caused by a malaise triggered by abdominal spasm. I woke up around 5 am with extreme discomfort in my lower abdomen, and terrible sweats and dry mouth. I quickly made it to my bathroom and experienced some of the worst pain I have ever had. I had ringing in my ears, blurred vision, lightheadedness, and profuse sweating. I honestly wondered if pregnancy contractions and giving birth were similar to this kind of pain. It felt like there was a giant watermelon in my belly that my body wanted to get rid of. It was difficult for me to move because of the abdominal pain. I sat on the toilet at least an hr, probably closer to 2 hrs. Hard and liquid stool. Finally I was able to stand up without stomach pain. The sweats and dizziness cleared as well. I was able to go back to bed however I did have to make a couple more trips to the bathroom later in the day, but nowhere near as intense as when I first woke up. The discomfort and bloating has improved. I don’t know if I will take the medication again as I think it was more traumatic than what I remember from the last two times I had taken it. My advice is to take one tablet with a lot of water and don’t eat anything within a few hours before you take it. Know there will be pain, and be near a bathroom within 4 hrs of taking it.

Terrible. The Dulcolax package said "one to three tablets in a single dose." I ingested three as I had been without a regular bowel movement for for a number of days. Severe cramping began about two hours later. Waves of faintness and breaking out in a cold swear ensued. I live alone and I felt scared, a should I call an ambulance or not situation. I hope my share will protect others from the consequences of using this product.

I pooed my pants and luckily I was in apartment, worked too fast, lucky I wasn't at work or outside!

Only took one pill at 2 pm. By 7:00 the cramps hit! It’s now 8:30 and I’be been to the toilet 10+ times. Cramping is awful. I’ve had several colonoscopies but this one pill has me feeling worse than all of them combined. I’m throwing the box away and never again taking this stuff. Back to Miralax for me.

One tablet resulted in excruciating cramps, vomiting as well as evacuating bowels which was the only purpose for taking medicine. Not at all gentle. Will never take again.

Suffering from sciatica, I was taking meds for that condition which caused constipation. I took two of the tiny Dulcolax pills with plenty of water at about 8 pm. Terrrible cramping, bloating and pain woke me up at around 2 a.m. I spent the rest of the night in the bathroom. I have delivered 3 children naturally and this was worse, it never stopped. Plus, it didn't help my sciatica pain having to sit on the toilet for hours. I thought I was going to pass out, or die. I was able to let my dogs out after 6:30 am, then back to the toilet. It is after 11 am and I still am having cramps and am bloated and sweating. I agree this should not be an over the counter medicine. The box says 1-3 for adults and children over 12. I can't image how a 12 year old would deal with this. I took 2, which was 2 too many. Never again.

Comment from: Be warned 45-54 Transgender less than 1 month Caregiver Published: June 20

Taking 2 was a HUGE mistake and I considered myself to be in medical distress at 4am. I took 2 before bed, expecting a good morning trip to the bathroom, as the box says it provides overnight relief. Well, I eventually had visions of myself being found by family members — unconscious, crumpled outside the water closet, naked. I wanted to phone my husband who is not even in town or call 911 due to the sudden onset of profuse sweating of face to legs (I had to strip down to underwear to try to cool off), stomach cramps (doubled over on the toilet) and vomiting (while sitting on the toilet — thank goodness there was a waste basket nearby). I sat like this for maybe 45min, wondering if I will be alive later and who will find me. The word regret does capture the feeling. It was that bad. The rest of the night was spent listless in bed, too cold and too exhausted, but grateful I made it bad to bed. Don’t let the simple instruction or tiny pill size fool you. This stuff will peel you inside out if you take 2. I cannot fathom why the instructions simply say “take 1-3”! The only thing I congratulated myself on was not taking 3 pills but I did consider it because the instructions were so permissive! Why?! BE WARNED.

I took one capsule and had severe indigestion. Also very fast irregular heartbeat. Very frightening. 20 hours later my heart rate is back to normal. Laxative did work 12 hours later but I am not taking it again. No cramps. No nausea but I thought that I was going to die

Comment from: 19-24 Transgender less than 1 month Caregiver Published: May 09

Do NOT take this drug. Also, the fact that the box says 1-3 is deceiving. Like other years said, any more than 1 will feel like a death sentence. I took Dulcolax before bedtime less than a week ago. I woke up around 2am, projectile vomiting in my dorm. I was completely unable to pass bowel movements. Instead, I was on the bathroom floor for over an hour, vomiting nonstop, after I could've sworn it had taken everything I had. The list goes on, and it had caused long lasting effects, as almost a week has passed and my kidneys are not functioning as they should :p Extremely frustrating experience to say the least.

I had to take 2 as prescribed for a colonoscopy prep. The directions were to take at 10 pm. It didnt mention to take with a lot of water, maybe because of taking it at bedtime. Regardless, I drank a couple of cups anyway. The following day at around 330 pm, I got acute pain in the colon area and then sat on the toilet for 30 mins, vomiting nothing but foam, sweating profusely, which was replaced with the chills. All for one bowel movement. The Peglyte solution totally cleaned me out, without any pain or nausea. Which only prompts one question, "Other than unnecessary pain and nausea; What is the point of taking dulcolax for a colonoscopy prep if the solution cleans you out anyway?!

I had read some bad reviews and when i started to feel a bit of abdominal cramping i thought “oh no”. But it was mild and short lived. The pooping itself was painless and i felt so much better after. I only took one pill so maybe that’s why? I think this product is great - does what it says
