What Are Dosages of Carbamide Peroxide Otic?
Adult and pediatric dosage
Ear drops
- 6.5%
- 10%
Softening, Loosening, & Removing Excessive Ear Wax
Adult dosage
- Instill 5-10 drops in the ear canal twice daily; not to exceed use beyond 4 days
- Keep drops in the ear for several minutes by tilting the head sideways and placing cotton in the ear
Pediatric dosage
- Children below 12 years: Instill 1-5 drops in the ear canal twice daily
- Children above 12 years: Instill 5-10 drops in the ear canal twice daily
- Keep drops in the ear for several minutes by tilting the head sideways and placing cotton in the ear
- Not to exceed use beyond 4 days

Common side effects of Carbamide Peroxide Otic include:
- minor irritation,
- rash, or
- redness.
Serious side effects of Carbamide Peroxide Otic include:
- hives,
- difficult breathing,
- swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- rash, or
- severe dizziness.

- Perforated tympanic membrane, discharge or pain, irritation or rash in the ear, use in the eye

Cautions
- Patient instructions: do not use if ear drainage, discharge, pain, irritation, or rash occurs
- If dizzy, consult a healthcare professional
- Do not use if perforation or injury of eardrum exists or after ear surgery unless directed to do so
- Do not generally use for above 4 days
- May flush remaining wax out with warm water and rubber ear syringe
- Not for use as OTC medication for patients below 2 years
