After initial back surgery in July, I developed a staph infection at the implant site. Had to have second back surgery late August to clean out the staph. Put on an antibiotic through a pic line and was on that for a month. But that made me very sick. Hospitalized again. Pic line was removed and was finally put on Cefuroxime Axtel 500 mg tablet 2x a day. Have been on this medication for over 3 months now. The problem is how exhausted I fell all the time. Also, it is a horse pill and with my throat condition I have to be careful swallowing the medication. I am due to see Infectious Disease doctor in early January and am hoping I will finally be taken off the medicine.

Only on day 2 of this medication. I am allergic to amoxiclin and Penicillin. Because they aren't sure if this is Lyme disease or cellulitis doctor prescribed this med because he said it would kill either one of the two that we think it is. So far so good without any issues. Only thing I am noticing is my lady parts feel a lil itchy and I read thar this can cause yeast infections in women.

Felt better after first dose. Everything seems to clear up as I continued the medication. It’s only day 2, 6 doses in. No side effects at all so far. I have experienced drowsiness on the first day

Being treated for UTI w/ kidney stones removal. This is day #2 of 7. Side effects (S/E) so far are stomach pain @day one as I didn’t initially take it w/food, diarrhea & malaise @day two. Urination frequency decreased significantly looks like the UTI is getting treated, but am experiencing the S/E of the meds. Will update this review once I’ve completed the duration.

I have bad reactions to amoxicillin (nausea) so my dr prescribed this instead. It was MUCH better than any others I’ve used. I had very few side effects and it even seemed to make my GI Tract better. Very happy with this

Symptoms similar to UTI though UTI not confirmed through cultures. Had restricted urinary flow with increasing pain. Heightened heartrate, fever, severe chills. ER, following a CT Scan and blood tests, began cefuroxine IV and then 500 mg oral twice per day continued for 7 days. Very effective for me. Quickly resolved symptoms. No major side effects, other than drowsiness, 5 days into treatment I was urinating normally. No diarrhea experiences as of yet. Always taken with food, including yogurt.

I feel like I should write a review since all the reviews here are negative. I just finished a course of this antibiotic due to a UTI I had. Today is Sunday morning, I took my last pill 2 days ago (Friday morning). I had absolutely no bad reactions while on this antibiotic.. I was given instructions to take it 2X a day (500 mg) for 7 days. Each time I took it I made sure it was with a full meal (breakfast and dinner). I drank plenty of water throughout the day while I was on this antibiotic. Now, I don't feel like it cleared up my UTI completely. This may be because this is my 3rd time on antibiotics in 5 months due to recurrent yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, and now UTI. Oh and also I was told I had minor inflammation in my appendix 5 months ago so acute appendicitis. They gave me Flagyl to treat that (now THAT antibiotic sucked). Had to stop halfway with that one. Horrible side effects. Anyway. I'm thinking maybe this antibiotic didn't completely treat my UTI because my body is getting resistant to antibiotics since they keep prescribing them to me. Hope this helped you all.

Why is this drug even available and used with the high risk of c-diff? C-diff killed my mother. It is hard to treat. My stupid doctor would not see patients with my symptoms -fever, phlegmy cough, fatigue, and while he usually gives me doxycycline, which always works, he prescribed this, although he has no flipping clue what I have. I have had explosive diarrhea since starting it and it is Memorial Day weekend so I have 2 more days before I can call, at which time I will have been on it for 5-1/2 days already. I am changing doctors this week.

500mg twice daily. Got Type-A flu, then mild case of pneumonia started. 10 day prescription did the job. I did experience fatigue after taking each dose. Extremely tired, lightheaded. Had to take a nap after morning dose and would be falling asleep in chair watching tv after evening dose. Only diarrhea twice. No stomach issues, took with food. Cleared up chest and coughing nicely. But the fatigue and drowsy feelings were unexpected.

Very bad stomach cramps and bloating within 30 mins of taking after food. I read to take yoghurt with it which I did and this did work. Day 5 I was out and started feeling really light headed and dizzy to the point where I was frightened, got a headache too and have now stopped taking them. Will never take this antibiotic again. I've never had a reaction like this and am usually fine with amoxicillin or ciprofloxacin. Unfortunately neither seemed to clear uti up so used these for 5 days and never again.

This stuff completely cleared my acne up. I have struggled with acne for most of my life, and I rarely get a pimple. When I do, it's really small and clears up after a couple of days. I take it with Clindamycin pledgets, and of course you need to also moisturize and use a good face wash.
