Dosage Considerations – Should be Given as Follows:
Indigestion/Heartburn
- Adults and children 12 years and older: Dissolve 2 tablets in water and drink effervescent solution every 4 hours as needed
- Not to exceed 8 tablets/24 hours
- Adults over 60 years: Not to exceed 4 tablets/24 hours
- Children under 12 years: Safety and efficacy not established
Administration
- Fully dissolve tablets in 4 oz of water before drinking

This medication contains citric acid/sodium bicarbonate. Do not take Alka-Seltzer Heartburn Relief if you are allergic to citric acid/sodium bicarbonate or any ingredients contained in this drug.
Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.

Cautions
- Sodium-restricted diet; 575 mg sodium/tablet
- Phenylketonurics; contains phenylalanine 5.6 mg/tablet
- Discontinue if taken maximum dosage for 2 weeks without relief
- Alters gastric pH and may interfere with absorption of some concurrent medications
Pregnancy and Lactation
Use citric acid/sodium bicarbonate with caution during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Animal studies show risk and human studies are not available or neither animal nor human studies were done.
It is unknown whether citric acid/sodium bicarbonate is distributed in breast milk.
