Eptinezumab is a prescription medication used for preventive treatment of migraine.

What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Eptinezumab?

Common side effects of Eptinezumab include:

  • Stuffy nose and scratchy throat
  • Allergic reactions
  • Serious side effects of Eptinezumab include:
  • Allergic reactions like rash, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, trouble breathing, hives and redness in the face

Rare side effects of Eptinezumab include:

  • none 

Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:

  • Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors;
  • Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights;
  • Serious heart symptoms include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out.

What Are the Dosages of Eptinezumab?

Adult dosage

Injectable solution

  • 100 mg/mL

Migraine

Adult dosage

  • 100 mg Intravenous every 3 months
  • Some patients may benefit from a 300-mg Intravenous dose every 3 months

Cautions

  • Hypersensitivity reactions, including angioedema, urticaria, anaphylaxis, facial flushing, dyspnea, and rash, have occurred; if a hypersensitivity reaction occurs, consider discontinuing treatment and institute appropriate therapy

Pregnancy and Lactation

  • There are no adequate data on developmental risks associated with use in pregnant women
  • No adverse developmental effects were observed following the administration of eptinezumab-jump to pregnant animals at doses greater than those used clinically
  • Clinical considerations
    • Published data have suggested that women with migraine may be at increased risk of preeclampsia and gestational hypertension during pregnancy
  • Lactation
    • Data are not available regarding the presence in human milk, effects on breastfed infants, or effects on milk production
