Oral Suspension

Dosage Considerations – Should be Given as Follows:

H. influenzae Acute Otitis Media

  • Children over 2 months: 50 mg/kg/day (erythromycin) or 150 mg/kg/day (sulfisoxazole) orally divided every 6-8 hours for 10 days
  • Children under 2 months: Contraindicated
  • Not to exceed 6 g/day sulfisoxazole
  • Not prescribed for adults

Warnings

This medication contains erythromycin base/sulfisoxazole. Do not take Pediazole if you are allergic to erythromycin base/sulfisoxazole or any ingredients contained in this drug.

Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to macrolides, sulfonamides, sulfonylureas, thiazides
  • Term pregnancy
  • Lactation
  • Age under 2 months
  • Porphyria
  • G-6-PD deficiency
  • Severe hepatic or renal impairment (CrCl less than 15 mL/minute), documented megaloblastic or folate deficiency anemia, obstructive uropathy
