I have had no negative sude effects from Vagifem within the few weeks I've been using it, but can't feel any benefits either. My main problem is the applicator. I started off fine, but by about day 8 of the initial two weeks, the skin around the area of insertion was becoming increasingly irritated and sore. At day 10 it was so bad I had to have a break to heal. I waited 3 days and tried again & it was okay if I used some KY Gel on the tip. I decided to go to the twice a week regime since I'd managed 10 days straight. And the following time was okay. Last night was the worst experience however. I struggled to insert it & then to push it all the way. It really hurt a lot and this morning going to the toilet stung like mad & there was a significant amount of bleeding. I have clearly injured myself with the applicator (bright red blood). Now I don't know what to do. I would like to give it a chance to work, but I can't keep sustaining injuries as it hurts and I am at risk of it getting infected.

Developed hives on day 2 unfortunately. So I stopped it and let the hives clear up for 10 days. I restarted the med and now day 3 full on hives again. So I'm allergic to something in the tablets . I'll see if my pharma can compound it differently. Too bad. , I was hoping this would work for me.

My doctor has upped my dosage of vagifem. Before I started this, I had so much pain from vaginal atrophy that I could barely walk around My Home. The pain literally kept me up at night. This works extremely well I have no side effects.

I have been using this medication for 4 days. I have hardly slept at all, my body aches, I have pain in my lower back and I am extremely emotional and agitated. I have only now worked out from reading some of these reviews why I am feeling like this. I will not be taking it anymore.

I was five years post menopausal and experiencing severe vaginal atrophy. Over the counter stuff didnt work. My doctor prescribed this and I tried this and found it to be very effective. I no longer have the burning sensation or the urgency to run to the washroom. I do have fibroids and feel some heaviness so that's the downsides. I have experienced more hair loss so I'm a bit hesitate to continue on. The other thing is that I do think trace amounts go into your bloodstream, because I did the initial daily use for two weeks and my anxiety went away and I felt normal again. Life seemed great again . ISo I really must have had 0% estrogen in my body. I really miss having estrogen in my system.

I am a 61 year old woman who suffered from vaginal atrophy beginning years after menopause at 52. I did not take HRT out of concern for existing uterine fibroids and history of fibrous breast tissue. I started having issues with painful sex, increasing UTI frequency and started using estradiol cream about a year and a half ago which did improve my physical symptoms a good bit. My OBGYN switched me to Vagifem about 3 months ago (less messy) but over a month ago, I began having bacterial vaginal infections that have yet to completely clear up. I am wondering if the Vagifem might be the culprit? I did read that some side effects of Vagifem included possible irritation and discharge, but BV was not mentioned. I do have some increase in lower leg swelling with the Vagifem compared to the cream. Oh, and my hair has been thinning since starting either form of vaginal estrogen which hasn't thrilled me either.

I had to stop taking this after 4 days of not being able to sleep. I would go to bed and never got more than 3 hours of sleep a night. I did try melatonin 2 nights and it did not help.

It took me a while to realize the side effects of this medication. I previously suffered from hiatus hernia years ago. I had such a flare up, I couldn’t control it, which I then thought was causing my breathlessness I was experiencing. My mood and anxiety were completely off. All this was very unusual for me. After some time of being sick, and continuing to decline, I finally considered that it may be the vagifem. I have stopped taking it, feeling so much better.

I find the applicator doesn’t insert very far and when I press the tab to release the pill, it pinches. The dosage has helped enormously. I wish the applicator was different.

I had tried other things. Patches which caused extremely sore breasts and breast tissue thickening and yet did nothing for the vaginal atrophy. Now I am super comfortable with 0 side effects and have dropped the patch completely. Hot flashes are bare minimum even though, vagifem just treats locally. It’s vagifem for the win!

since taking this for nearly 2 months recommended for vaginal atrophy, I have developed a rash on my upper chest and neck which has now spread to my face around my eyes. My breasts started to feel swollen and tender but this has now subsided but I have since started to feel nausea. This may be due to a virus and I recently had Covid but I have decided to go back to my GP especially after reading the side effects of Vagifem. I may just be the unlucky 1 in 100.

I am 61 yrs old and thought my sex life was over - I was having immense pain/burning with intercourse or any type of touching. I've been taking this now for 18mths. This prescription gave me a life back - seriously! I had tried other stuff including replens (which burned like hell as i was so dry). I was very hesitant starting this but my relationship was suffering - i was just in so much pain before/during and after sex. So i spoke with a lady doctor who advised Vagifem - boy did it change things up. Within 2 wks it was like night and day : ) I wish i could advocate this stuff, I personally thinks its amazing : ) Its a shame as most women out there just dont know about it (I didnt)...unfortunately some women cant use it for various reasons but wish there were more information/adverts so you could find out that what is happening to your body when you get older is natural but there is something out there to help : )

I began using Vagifem 20 years ago after a hysterectomy, & oophorectomy which led to vaginal atrophy and it’s painful symptoms. Vagifem removed the pain involved with vaginal atrophy and also seems to have stopped urethritis incidents. Since starting Vagifem, I have had extremely minimal UTIs compared to prior. I stopped using it for a while 2 years ago, and the pain of atrophy & urethritis returned. I don’t want to ever have to be off it again.

This medication has made intimacy possible by taking away vaginal pain. I have no side effects. It's amazing!

Although vaginal soreness improved. The bacterial vaginosis remained . But the worst effect was the horrendous discharge once the pessary melted. Akin to liquid chalk that set like concrete and cemented your pants to your vagina! Needless to say, I stopped using it.
