If want to be extra anxious and feeling of sadness the next day this is the medicine for you. I’d take 1mg then fall asleep at 11pm wake up at 5am totally anxious and completely off. Don’t bother with this med unless of course want to be depressed next morning. Good luck
I’ve taken Lunesta 2mg the first night and didn’t sleep. Then I’ve been on 3mg the past two nights I took 3mg and could not fall asleep, but when I finally did, I did sleep, but wasn’t a good deep sleep. Not a fan! I’ve tried every med under the sun!! I am seeing a sleep Doctor August 1st.
I have only started taking this for 1 week. I know thats not long, but i can say it has helped me fall and stay asleep pretty well. However i am having trouble with nightmares that almost feel like im half awake. Its not all the time, but the dreams are very strange.I have had dreams like that in the past so im not totally sure its the medication. Anyone else have this?
I haven’t slept well in years, I tried all over the counter drugs, then the doctors prescribed drugs that hade a side effect of tired, did not work. Then Ambien helped me fall asleep but that was not my problem,it was staying asleep . Lunesta has helped that problem but only taking 1mg hopefully doctor will up it up it be a strait through nits sleep
I was prescribed the Lunesta following a mild TBI which produced insomnia. I started with 1 mg. alternating with a muscle relaxer the next night (one if the muscle relaxers side effects is drowsiness) Doctor approved. After a month or so it quit working as effectively and my doc upped the dose to 2mg. I've been using it, alternating with the other medicine for about 2 months. It works fairly well for me. Takes an hour or so to kick in. It does leave a nasty taste in my mouth and I think it makes me dizzy the next day. I hope as the TBI heals I can stop using it, but for now it's made a huge difference in my recovery.
I began taking Lunesta after trialing multiple other sleep aids- both prescription and non- for my chronic insomnia post partum. It worked for a couple of weeks, then I noticed I went back to my old sleep patterns- waking multiple times per night or just staying awake. I didn’t take it for 2 nights in a row as I figured I would just stop if not working- massive mistake. The next day I was so overwhelmingly anxious with physical symptoms- nausea, diarrhea, palpitations and elevated heart rate. I felt almost manic in nature which I’ve never had a day in my life. Come to find out you can develop physiological withdrawal. I have been tapering slowly off this medication and it has been brutal. Would never recommend
I’ve tried every other possible sleep pills for insomnia and nothing was working or if it did it was so short term, or I’d wake up not being able to function, I love how quickly it kicks in and truly does work
Was prescribed for nightmares, and I’m not entirely sure why. All it did was make me sleep walk and act out my nightmares. My boyfriend found me in the kitchen after cooking pancakes (perfectly I might add) with bacon, eggs and hash browns. Normally I guess this would be pretty cool, but I made the entire Costco bag full of pancakes… had to be over 300 pancakes in that pile.. all the eggs.. all the bacon.. and peeled shredded and fried 10 potatoes. All in a matter of about an hour. When he woke me up I was convinced that “ I had to cook this old folks home a continental breakfast or else the demon with the big gray inproportionate face will kill more people in front of me.” It took him about 3 hours to get me to understand I was sleepwalking and none of it was real. I have never had psychological issues or hallucinations or sleepwalked before in my life. I just can’t believe I did all that and didn’t cut myself or burn myself or anything.. did all the dishes as I went too. I have 5 dogs who were following me around that night.. I wish I could get their accounts of what the hell I was doing. I don’t take it anymore.
I have been on Lunesta since 2004 when it originally came out. 3 mg nightly. Only side affect I have ever had is the bad taste (swallow with water, one gulp ). been basically 20 years on it now, and it still works great.
Lunesta is horrible, I took it for three days. I had a bad reaction and had go to the ER twice because it caused me to have panic attacks. I am also taking Gabapentin to try to stop the panic attacks. I also have neurogenic bladder. The overactive bladder type so one of those medications has made it worse.
After trying many other medications to help my severe insomnia, my doctor prescribed me lunesta 3mg. It has been a life changing medication. I fall asleep easily and am not hung over the next day.i had to learn how to avoid the awful taste by filling my mouth with water, dropping the pill in and swallowing quickly. I have been taking this now for 4 years and have not had a restless night after taking it.
I started The generic of Lunesta 1 mg. and only stayed asleep 3 hours. Dr. bumped it up to 2 mg. Long story short I got only 4 hr. 45 min. last night. I am going to try 3 mg. tonight. I also use Gabapentin for anxiety. I took 2 (300 mg.) at bedtime and got (+-) 3 hrs. At 11:30 I took 2 mg. Lunesta. Woke up at 4 am. I then took .25 Alprazolam and got up at 5:30 am. Dr. approves this combo. I think I'm a rapid or ultrarapid metabolizer.

CASE #1 Spring 2018/2019 I was using Ambien with little or no affect on my insomnia when I changed over to Lunesta. My doctor also prescribed Lexapro as an anti depressant that may also induce insomnia. Eventually it worked, and I had 2 really decent years of sleep with a few exceptions. Then......... CASE #2 Fall 2022 Insomnia returns at age 77 due to the stress caring for my wife who has vascular dementia, but the main reason was pulsating tinnitus akin to a drum beating in yours i.e. your heartbeat. I had a couple of Lunestas from my old prescription. So I popped 1mg the next two nights with mixed results 5 hours max. My doctor prescribed me 30 more Lunestas 1mg eack $89 ($345 w/o ins). Tool 1mg waited 30-40 minutes no sleep. Got up took a second pill went to bed fell asleep in 10 minutes got 9 hours! Sorry for the long story but that what appears to work for now.
I received samples of lunesta...non generic. As an insomnia sufferer..i was already tired. When i took the pill my eyes rolled, its like I hadnt slept in 3mo, heavy knock into sleep. Unfortunately, my generic prescription did not do the same. I felt nothing. So, its pointless to create this life saving medication and want 500 or more a month. Why so costly? I wish that the name brand would lower there cost so real people can have acess to real medication. I refuse to take generics in this med.
Totally ineffective! DO NOT split the generic tablet, the most vile metallic taste will ensue!
I work nights. Have been getting 2-3 hours of sleep in between my 12 hour shifts. Took Lunesta once and never again! I got maybe 2 hours of sleep, tossed and turned. I got severely depressed the same day of dose. Then had a horrible headache the following two days. My dose was 2 MG.
I've found Lunesta to be effective in minimizing problems that reduce chances for a restful sleep. It has positive effect on sleep centers in the brain by targeting anxiety and/or stress. I'll continue to use Lunesta for occasional induced sleep.
Been taking 3mg for years and was working daily well. However as of late the efficacy has greatly diminished. This latest refill seems watered down (eszopiclone from Sunovion Pharma) and not nearly as effective.

Does nothing for insomnia except make your awake time unpleasantly disoriented. Heavy residual morning effects which is a non-starter when you have small kids. My doc said this would keep me asleep which is laughable; I took it at 10:30pm and was wide awake at 1130pm except feeling drunk and unable to mentally function.
