Eyebright

Eyebright suggested uses include eye inflammation and irritation.

Eyebright is available under the following different brands and other names: augentrostkraut, Euphrasia officinalis, and ocularia.

Dosages of Eyebright:

Dosage Considerations – Should be Given as Follows:

Topical

• Rnse eyes with a 2% solution three to four times daily

Oral

• Oral: 2 caps two to three times daily (cap sizes vary)
• Tincture: (1:5 in 45% alcohol) 2-6 mL three times daily
• Liquid Extract: (1:1 in 25% alcohol) 2-4 mL three times daily

Administration

• Oral: take with water at mealtimes

Side effects of Eyebright include:

• Confusion
• Headache
• Nausea
• Constipation
• Cough
• Trouble breathing
• Trouble sleeping (insomnia)

Side effects of eyebright applied to the eye (NOT recommended) include:

• Eye Infections
• Tearing
• Itching
• Redness
• Vision Problems
