What is nasal cromolyn used for?Nasal cromolyn is commonly used to prevent and ease nasal allergy symptoms, such as a runny, stuffy, or itchy nose, and sneezing, caused by hay fever (allergic rhinitis).Nasal cromolyn may also be used for other conditions as determined by your health care provider.Cromolyn is also available in other forms. Cromolyn stops these cells from releasing substances that lead to allergy symptoms, such as histamine, when you come into contact with allergens. What are the most common side effects of nasal cromolyn?The most common side effects of nasal cromolyn are sneezing and stinging right after you use it. Tell your health care provider if you have any of these side effects that bother you.There may be other side effects of nasal cromolyn that are not listed here. What should I do if I accidentally use too much nasal cromolyn?If you or someone else has used too much nasal cromolyn, get medical help right away, call 911, or contact a Poison Control center at 800-222-1222.What should I do if I miss a dose of nasal cromolyn?If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and only use the next dose. Do not use double or extra doses. Do not use nasal cromolyn more than directed on the product label.

This may spread germs.Keep nasal cromolyn out of the reach of children.To help keep nasal allergy symptoms under control, use nasal cromolyn when you are around things that trigger your allergies (allergens), such as pollen, dust, or pets. Nasal cromolyn may also be used to help prevent symptoms. To prevent symptoms, you should start using it up to a week before you plan to be around allergens. It may take a few days of using nasal cromolyn before you start to notice improvement. For full effect, it could take one to two weeks of regular use.If your symptoms get worse, you notice new symptoms, or your symptoms do not improve after two weeks, stop using nasal cromolyn and talk to your health care provider. Do not use it for longer than 12 weeks unless your health care provider recommends it.Nasal cromolyn should only be used for allergy symptoms. You should not use it to treat things such as the common cold, asthma, or a sinus infection. What should I tell my health care provider before using nasal cromolyn?Tell your health care provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using.
