ESTRADIOL RING - VAGINAL

USER REVIEWS

Comment from: 55-64 Transgender less than 1 month Caregiver Published: April 22

I was informed that this product: Estring (estradiol vaginal ring) 2mg would be the idea proscription for my vaginal dryness and painful sex. After the pharmacy having to order it, waiting 3 days for it to come in, then having to pay*** $437.00*** due to my insurance not covering it, the GoodRX code not working, and not receiving the manufacturer coupon. I was with high hopes this was going to be worth that large amount of money. First, the size of the ring is HUGE!!! I do not understand how one HUGE size would fit all. Second, the material the ring is made from is EXTREMELY hard and it's being placed inside our drying out sensitive vaginal area.?.?.? Third, the instructions say it may slide down with constipation or straining, to just guide it back into place with your finger. How could this be sanitary if you're constantly having to push it back in? I had to remove it after 3 weeks because it began to feel like I was violated. My vagina started to throb in pain from the constant pressure, pain from the moving in and out around my vaginal opening, and it was also causing me to have urine incontinence. I am going to ask my OBGYN if there is any way this product has a refund policy. I am also going to make sure she educates her patients on the size and hardness of this product. There should be a fitting trial ring before patients are given this very EXPENSIVE prescription.

Unfortunately, I could not use it. The ring is too large and the contour, very hard and uncomfortable to insert.

I am desperate to go back on E String having used it for just over 2 years which worked perfectly. My consultant said 2 years & have a “break” but my GP couldn’t tell me when/if I can use it again. My symptoms have returned with the use of Vagirux.

My experience with the estring has been phenomenal! I only paid a $45 copay. Within 2 months I noticed significant improvement in urethral irritation, sense of urgency, leakage, dryness, pimples and burning/itching. Insertion was easy and I don’t feel the ring at all.

Have used it for past 3 years...however, I cannot remove it...no matter how hard I try! My husband has to take it out. Also, I believe it has caused me to gain weight around my middle...I think some others also experienced this.

After having cancer I had to use estrogen for menopause, atrophy and incontinence. I tried the cream and patch and thought this would be perfect since I used the Nuva ring for 5 years. It works wonderful but I have a shorter canal since cancer was in that area. It sits so low in my vaginal canal that it presses on my front wall and causes worse incontinence and I can feel it all day. After a couple weeks it becomes painful enough to want to remove it. I can’t push it any further in. I do NOT understand why it has to be so thick. I loved the Nuva ring. It was so thin and flexible. This is ridiculously large and stiff. Of course, it’s made by Pfizer which is probably an all male company so they don’t even understand. If the case were to have a skinnier, smaller, more flexible ring and have to change it monthly, I WOULD!

Love this product so much. The only thing is the price gouging male run big pharma is doing. I had to pay over $400 for this every 3 months. Men get viagra for free while women need to pay up or wither. It angers me to no end.

Estring is great! Easy to use and comfortable. No mess! BUT don't waste your time until you know if your insurance covers it! Pfizers prescription savings card is a joke. The most it will save you is $100 on a $700 drug. I can not afford this Rx and don't know what else to do.

I am a first-time user of Estring at age 63, after about 9-10 years of using Estrace cream of Vagifem. Those methods were not working as well for me - I'd forget when I was supposed to insert it next, and in between I would experience mild hot flashes and increasingly bad headaches. I got the Estring in place about 3 weeks ago and by the next day I felt so much better - have had no headaches, no hot flashes, very moisturizing and I almost feel like it's increased my general sense of wellbeing! My only concerns are the price - don't think my insurance will pay, so with the coupon from the manufacturer, you save some but it's still costly. For me, worth it, fortunately I can do it. My other concern, from reading other reviews is removing it when necessary as 3 months nears - hoping I can manage!! I know my gynecologist can help if I need to go in for an appt. to have her remove it, but hope I won't.

Used vaginal cream for a year and still bleed for two days after very uncomfortable sex. Then a month after Estring I feel normal again. But now that I am on Medicare I can no longer afford it. Sadly those most likely to need it and least likely to afford it cannot use the coupon. I can't help but cry

I used the estring for vaginal dryness and atrophy and painful sex. I found it easy to insert and remove. It helped with dryness but sex is still painful. Discharge was significant. After 8 months I developed a bacterial infection. My doctor instructed me to remove it immediately. After antibiotic treatment I will be trying an estrogen cream.

Had a difficult time removing ring. Wish someone would have described what the ring should feel like so first time users have a easier time knowing what to do.

I love the Estring BUT why is its so hard to remove. I cannot do it by myself. Manufacturer should provide a device to remove it....I had a kind of "hook" to use when I had a diaphragm years ago.

OMG.This ring is heaven sent. Before using this ring the dryness, vulvar itching painful sex and overall irritation inside the vagina was unbearable. I have been using the ring a little over 3 weeks and I feel great! It took care of all of my symptoms with the exception of the painful sex as I still experience some tearing during sex. So it looks like I will still need to include some vaginal moisturizer a few times a week in order to add more moisture to that area. Overall, I am completely satisfied! Oh and you don't even know it's there even while having sex!

I am a first-time user of Estring at age 63, after about 9-10 years of using Estrace cream of Vagifem. Initially, the ring seemed so big, as I had gotten small in my vag since menopause that it barely fit at all. At first, it increased my yeast infections. After I got that under control, I started feeling much better about sex in a couple of weeks. By the end of three months, I am amazed to find -I have lost inches around my belly, hips, legs, and most delightedly--my extra chin has receded, almost disappeared! And, best of all--my skin all over my body--looks and feels 15 years younger! Seriously. Very happy with the product, even though it still costs me $100 copay with insurance and the extra program.

My first three months are coming to an end and the only possible side effect if at all, is my vision close up has weakened although that may be an age thing as I am 59. I can feel the difference in vaginal tone and lubrication. I don't even realize it is inside me. Most estrogen creams caused a rash and itchy discomfort when inserted manually. There has been no direct discomfort at all with estring.

I just started with estring last week, but I feel the preliminary results in the tone of my vagina. I entered menopause at age 30 secondary to NH lymphoma and chemotherapy. Just started experiencing atrophy at age 40. Took the pill for one horrible year, then could never remember to put the creams in, so I opted for Estring. It is easy to insert and is already helping dryness. Haven't had sex with it in yet; I think my husband is scared of it. I am shocked at how little you all are paying. Maybe it's our insurance, but I pay $350 with a coupon from Good Rx. It is usually $550 or something.

very painful to insert, I removed & tried several times. No matter I could feel it & it was very uncomfortable. The directions said to expect a discharge which I had but it was very annoying. I had to wear a panty liner. I did not try to have sex while using it, I can not imagine how painful that would be. this was definitely not for me. I had to pay $70.00 with insurance & I threw it away after 2 weeks.

I could not use it. The ring is HUGE. There is no way to place it where it is comfortable.
