The med has somewhat helped depress my cough. But it didn’t help the cause of my cough. I tend to take it at night to be able to sleep through the night. I decided to take it at work, bad idea! It made me very light headed. I had to sit down for a minute. I’m sure everyone experiences is slightly different. Just be cautious where you are taking it.

After I have had a cold for a few days I seem to wake up coughing from a dry throat (probably caused by the cold medications I have taken). Taking one of these capsules before I go to bed helps so much! I can sleep through the night without waking up coughing. While I understand they don't work for everyone, I would still give them a 5 star rating.

Cough is no better. Not hard to take a pill, especially as small as this one is. Dr.’s need to realize people know their bodies better than a stranger, which is what a Dr. is when you meet them. If I say I have an upper respiratory infection coming on (coughing up green phlegm) that requires an antibiotic. Not a cough suppressant.

Bensonatate 100mg , 2 capsules 3/day has been prescribed to me on several occasions. I was never feeling a difference, This time, my cough persisted for over 2 years, medicine didn’t stop it. Didn’t get any better. My friend made me a home-brew of HCQ and my cough disappeared within 2 weeks.

I'm going into my fourth week of a nonproductive cough. My doctor prescribed benzonatate instead of codeine cough syrup (which has worked reliably for me in the past). The insurance plan would not authorize codeine. The benzonatate has had absolutely no effect on my cough at all. I am still awake all night coughing and choking. I can barely function during the day.

I was just given this drug after I complained to my doctor about the quality of sleep I was getting during my current cold. My coughing at night actually became worse after beginning the drug. I spent three nights with terrible coughing fits so I decided to look up Benzonatate on Webmd. After reading how some people experienced more coughing at night I decided to take a day off from the drug and just used over the counter cough syrup. It was the best night of sleep I have had since starting Benzonatate. I am throwing this prescription in the garbage.

I tend to get these prescribed when I'm dealing with a lingering, post-infection cough. For that purpose at least, I've found that these work great, and only make me a little bit drowsy (usually that part is most acute in the mornings after taking this before bed).

Benzonatate prescribed for cough do to seasonal allergies, also hydrocodone. Strange side effect is sensitivity to cold. Stepped out of the house in 48 degree weather and immediately started shaking violently. Did the same the next day and could barely get back to bed. Started hyperventilating and had to work hard to get my breathing under control. Talked with a friend who just started taking Benzonatate and she had a similar experience but not as severe. Benzonatate did bring the cough under control. There is a warning about using Benzonatate and hydrocodone.

This is day 2 and experienced the same thing. Seems like this pill is only making my cough worse. After reading the reviews, seems like I’m not alone.

This medication is making my cough worse not better. I will never take it again. They should still give codeine cough syrup to people who need it. I have been having to sleep sitting up for the past 4 nights. It’s the worst drug I have ever taken in my life. The next time they prescribe it I will say No Thank you!! Mucinex or Delsym are better options.

Was diagnosed with bronchitis and was prescribed Benzonatate 100 3x daily and Prednisone. I had been taking Mucinex DM which was working but I also needed a steroid. The NP said to stop the Mucinex completely. This stuff is useless, it is 3:30 am as I am writing this I have been awake due to coughing fits all night. I am going back to Minute Clinic in the morning and they are going to give me something that actually works. I need to sleep.

I tend to get these prescribed when I'm dealing with a lingering, post-infection cough. For that purpose at least, I've found that these work great, and only make me a little bit drowsy (usually that part is most acute in the mornings after taking this before bed).

I started taking it yesterday. I don't think it's helping, my cough is the same, really bad cough. But I'm going to keep taking it and see if I will get better in a few days.

I had a dry cough for 4 weeks. When to the dr and was prescribed Benzonatate, after being diagnosed with Bronchitis. Immediately after taking the first pill, my cough was violently worse. This is day 2 and experienced the same thing. Seems like this pill is only making my cough worse. After reading the reviews, seems like I’m not alone.

This medication needs to be discontinued. Several times I have been prescribed this medication and each time was a waste of time and money. It does nothing but make me cough even more.

I've had a dry cough for a week from allergies and bronchitis - dr gave me Benzonatate saying it'd help - my cough is worse and now I'm hacking up mucus. My throat is completely raw and I have no voice - this drug has made everything worse. I'd rather suck on a Halls

Experiencing a persistent cough after a cold. Tried these years ago and remembered I didn’t like them, but the doctor encouraged me to give them another try. 30 minutes after taking them I felt worse and was coughing harder than I had in days.
