I had repeated exacerbation of asthma. Almost placed on ventilator several times. An awesome pulmonoligist and intensivist prescribed this for me. He saved my life!!! This has been a miracle drug for me. It is THE ONLY leukotriene inhibitor available. Singular does not help me. i have had NO complications from Zyflo CR. My liver enzymes are good.

Miracle drug for me! I am highly allergic to dogs and cats. For the past 20 years I have tried every medication out there. I found Zyflo while studying the effects of leukotrienes. This drug stops the synthesis of all six leukotrienes, therefore stopping my horrible reactions. I took two pills for fifteen days then stopped. For the past two years my reactions have diminished by 90% I would say. Recently I felt the reactions coming back so I took the rest of my prescription and the same thing is happing. My reactions are going away. I am relaying this info because I was desperate and Zyflo really worked for me. I hope that it works for you.

This drug has made a world of difference in my treatment. My lack of total satisfaction with the drug is the cost. Cornerstone (maker) has really gotten greedy, not only recovering there R&D costs, but also making tons of money. When I first stated using Zyflo CR, my insurance cost was $660. As the drug grew in popularity, so did the cost. Now the average price where I live (Vegas), is $1880/ month. My insurance caps the month costs at $1799. Therefore I can no longer obtain this wonderful drug.

Zyflo is amazing for asthma and sinus problems. I do not think it is prescribed enough, probably because of the cost. The mechanism goes a step further than Singulair, and the results are substantial. I don't even need inhalers with Zyflo CR. I would recommend that anyone with breathing difficulty from allergy try it. It's more than one pill a day, and you have to take it with food--but is that really too much trouble to breathe better ALL day?

I'm using this drug off label to treat chronic rhinitis that prevented me from sleeping, even after 2 surgeries. All of the steroid nasal sprays and other treatments failed me miserably, and I thought I would never sleep again until Zyflo CR. I am now able to sleep a full 8 hours. It's a costly drug, but it sure helped me.

I was put on this for chronic hives (had for almost 8 years, when taking excessive quantities of Benedryl or Zyrtec did little. I have been on this for over a year. It helps but I still have breakthrough hives (at times very bad) even on this and with at least Zyrtec 3x per day. I hate the cost, even with a coupon, the fact that I have to get my liver tested all the time and that my pharmacy has to special order it for me (w/o insurance, $1500/month, thankfully I have insurance). My doctor is looking to put me on Cyclosporin-A soon in place of this because I am still itchy and we could not figure out from diet what has caused me so much misery.

I have been on this drug since January 2012. After multiple failures with medications, I am finally free of attacks that have nearly killed me. I have been diagnosed with allergic asthma and severe allergies to things I cannot control like trees, dust, flowers, etc. I am also worried about the long term affects as I too will be on this for the rest of my life.

I have severe, persistent allergic asthma and have been on prednisone daily for 1 year along with 3 inhalers and Xolair treatments every 2 weeks. I was given Zyflo with the hope that I could reduce or eliminate the amount of prednisone that I take. So far, I feel it has helped my breathing but don't know if I can reduce prednisone. Initial side effects were awful, especially nausea. Now I just feel tired and drowsy most of the time and have some difficulty sleeping. However, if it helps control my asthma, I will tolerate the side effects.

Don't know if this was an asmtha attack, but the Zyflor CR in fact improved my breathing. Remember to take into account the steam helps the lungs, and the heat has a soothing effect to a tenses body.

I have Sampters Triad and am taking this drug because I have chronic nasal polyps with asprin sensitivity and slight asthma. this drug is the only thing that keeps my sinuses from swelling and blocking my air passage! However, I do have concerns that I have to take 4 pills a day and be on this the rest of my life.... I'm trying to find out if there are any long term effects. Please let me know if there are things I need to be on the look out for!

I have been taking Zyflo CR along with Fexofenadine for my chronic urticaria for about 6 months now. I am now mostly free of the terrible hives -- so every so often, I try to skip a dose to see if I still need it. Yup! Next day, I have hives on my face. tsk tsk. Looks like I'll have to stay on this medication forever?

Singulair did not help my chronic urticaria (hives and rash...terrible itching). My doctor recommended I try Zyflo and it worked within hours. Must be taken b.i.d., and can be hard on the liver. Also, very expensive, even though it isn't a new drug. But it has increased my quality of life greatly, and basically eliminated my need for periodic steroids when things got too bad.
