10 days Vancomycin relapsed 8 days later. 8 week taper of Vancomycin and relapsed in the last 2 weeks of the taper. 10 days of dificid and it has been 24 days from my last pill and I am feeling great. I think I have beat it and if so Dificid was worth every penny.

Hi. In my case I have taken 3 rounds of Vanco which was easy but as soon as I tapered off, Cdiff came right back. After 9 weeks insurance FINALLY approved Dificid (Fidaxomycin). I’ve only been on Dificid for 3 full days now. Has anyone else experienced the side effects of Dificid such as vomiting, feeling nauseous and diarrhea? Oh and let’s not forget severe abdominal pain. The best way I can describe the side effects is that it feels like yet another round of Cdiff. Wondering if it will be this way the full 10 day course?

Had c diff for 5 months. Took flagyl for 2 weeks. 4 days after treatment it came back. Took vancomicin for 2 wks. Then pulsed for 37 days. It came back in 5 days. Took Dificid for 10 days. It came back 22 days after the last dose. I Can't believe it. I felt great, I thanked God everyday. Finally got my life back. Really thought I had this beat. I don't give a rats a++. I'm going for the poop transplant before I start getting sick again. I'm not done yet. Sorry about the emotion, today's the 22nd day. So look, if you find yourself here, just go to the next step. We have many options now. Stay strong...jt

Endured 6 episodes of C. Difficile since having shoulder replacement surgery. (Received Clindomycin post-op to prevent infection and it may have affected the flora in my gut) Took Flagyl 4 times and Vancomycin once. Dificid was the last resort before going to fecal transplant. That brings its own set of risks. Experienced no adverse side effects. Symptom free for 4 months, finally!

I have been fighting this severe diarrhea since he first week in June when I was in the hospital for Gall bladder surgery. This is the third antibiotic I have been on and it appears to be working. In the other cases the diarrhea returned two or 3 days after I stopped taking the medication. I am about half way through the medication but the diarrhea is gone and I hope forever!

After suffering for 6 months with CDiff, Dificid is the only med that worked. I tried Flagyl twice and Vacomycin. My GYN prescribed Dificid. My copay was a bit expensive it was more than Vanco. But it worked. Glad my GYN was up on her med info. Each day I am feeling better.

after just 3 days of treatment with dificid i feel alive and happy!!! i have lived through 3 episodes of c-diff within a 6 week period; including dehyration and hospitalization. i had become confined to my home out of fear of when it may strike again. my life had come to a grinding halt.my spirit was depleted and i had began to question if life would ever be the same. i had been treated with flagyl several times over the six week period;only to have a reoccurence within 24-48 hrs. i thought there was no medical cure in sight. was prescribed dificid 200mg 2x day x 10 days and i have noticed remarkable improvement mentally;emotionally and phsically within the 1st 3 daysof treatment. i am smiling and feeling like my old self once again!!!!! without insurance would have been prohibitive to purchase;but over time this too will become more cost effective. i am cautiously optomistic that this medication will prove to be effective in erradicating this bacteria from by colon permanently and allow me to resume my happy, active and healthy lifestyle.
