Some of you chics will complain about anything just to have something to complain about! The clumping of the vaginal discharge is absolutely normal and indicative that the gel is working. I have had wine while using the gel, so my experience is that it didn’t make me sick. It also takes away BV after 5 days of treatment. If you want to do something productive, have your male partners treated for BV while you get treated. Boom!

Was having weird yellowish discharge and a little fishy scent here and there but no symptoms really. Doctor diagnosed me with BV via swab sample, this is my 3rd time having BV in under a year. It’s really annoying and I didn’t know I had it this time as my symptoms weren’t consistent and I wasn’t having pain like I did for the first two times. First two times I took oral Flagyl but had horrible horrible side effects like nausea, bad taste in mouth, and a yeast infection. So this time my doctor gave me this gel instead. I was worried about side effects but have experienced very little. I did get thick, chunky, white discharge on day 2 and after, I get mild cramping after inserting the gel but nothing super serious. I like the cool sensation the gel gives when it’s inserted plus no real side effects! At least nothing major for me. Scent and BV symptoms were gone after 1 application. It was pricy for me even with my insurance but I will be using this gel for BV in the future, I love it!

My gyno prescribed the gel to treat recurring bv by using once per week for 6 months. I used it on Monday, cottage cheese discharge came soon after but I know this is normal. However, today is Sunday and the discharge isn’t slowing down. I don’t see myself using it again because one week of discharge is a mess especially when I’m to use it weekly. I did take medication for a YI on Thursday to ensure that didn’t occur. So now I’m just having clumpy discharge. It’s miserable.

When my doctor first told me about MetroGel and told me where it goes and how to use it, I freaked out. I said I don’t want to do that. He told me that it’s best for the medicine to go straight into the vagina to for less side effects instead of oral medication. I was ok with it. So I thought ok I’ll give it a try. But it was a suppression. He wanted to treat the BV with oral antibiotics first and the use the MetroGel for suppression. I was ok with that. But every time I go to use the gel it always seemed to come back. My body is reacting to the gel and the BV just keeps coming back so I guess we will have to try something else.. idk. I’m at a loss right now of what my doctor is going to do next.

I was experiencing really painful internal vaginal burning, and went to the Gyno who told me it was BV. The metrogel worked really well for me. I decided to go gel route versus medication bc it was longer to use and pills usually make me form a yeast infection. Day 3 of the metrogel I experienced super thick chunky discharge, but no other problems with it. The discharge lasted about 4 days after I stopped the metrogel then everything went back to normal. I recommend asking for 2 pills for yeast infection as a prevention of developing one after. I took 1 the first day I started metrogel, and on the 3rd day when I got the discharge as a precautionary. No infections anymore!

Okay so I can count the times I've had BV. And, I say BV because although all my wet peeps, cultures for STD'S come back negative. My dr and I are baffled at the smell???? I taken flagyl 500mg that stuff is the bomb! But we are talking about METROGEL so I didnt have no leakage. It was super easy for me to use. I didnt get no cramping or unusual pelvic pain. I did however seen the stuff coming out with the gel. But after 5 days. The smell still lingered around for maybe 5 days. Then I started my period and it wasn't putrid but I could smell it. I finished my period and for the past 3 days I have no smell at all... So, I dont know. I'm 43 and my vagina has started to change its frustrating because I am so in tune with my juices I can't stand any smells. I never ever used ro smell while on my period. I have a gyn app tomorrow we'll see what the dr says.

Painful cramping. Just finished the last day and it’s caused daily stomach issues along with so so much discharge I’m hoping it worked, I feel better but it definitely does a number on you. Lots of burning sensations and pressure. It also leaks out all day - a lot a lot. Wear a liner of some sort or it will feel not so fresh. I’m worried about the bleeding though... probably just irritated

After being diagnosed with a BV two months ago and trying multiple rounds of oral antibiotics with no success my Dr Rx the gel. I, fortunately, did not have the fishy smell associated with BV but intense soreness and burning during intercourse and urination. I also had a think milky discharge. Much like other experiences the first day using medication only slightly burned along with mild cramps. On day two I had the normal white clumpy discharge which wasn't pleasant but I was willing to try anything at this point. I am currently on day 5 and feeling great! I still have the white discharge but it has decreased considerably. I was informed to complete a 10 day which is confusing because other reviews only state a 5 day term. Has anyone else been told to complete a 10 day? Thank you for providing your feedback ladies!! It was very helpful and put me at ease that I'm not alone!!

According to my doctor I was diagnosed with bv - the first time in my life. My symptoms were urinary frequency, burning, inflammation, watery discharge with no odor. He prescribed the metrogel and I asked why he would not give me pills instead as I really did not want to insert anything into such an irritated area but he insisted this was the best method. I have had no relief from my symptoms. Honestly I don't know if the medication has helped at all because some of my symptoms can be side effects of the drug. Here's my side effects: extreme fatigue, dizzyness, complete lack of appetite, extreme nausea, depression, pelvic pain, lower back pain, vaginal burning, itching, urinary frequency and bladder pain. I tested neg. for uti. The first couple of times I used it I also got brief flashes of tingling in both my feet and in my right hand. This went away but the other side effects have not. I do not ever want to take this med again and if I have to I will insist on oral form. Why would they even make a med that had to be inserted vaginally when that area is so irritated from the infection?

I am a postmenopausal woman who got BV for the first time. My doctor prescribed this gel for me to use for 5 nights before bed. It is very easy to insert and did not cause too much leaking when I wake in night time to go to bathroom, but one month later I got BV again. The second time my doctor prescribed this for me again, but it caused inflammation of my internal vaginal tissues, so she told me to stop it after day three. Will not use again.

Today will mark the 5th day that I have been taking the metro gel. I had cramps every night right before bed since day one of inserting the gel, however, the cramps were not that bad (probably a 4 out of 10). However, I hate the white wet tissue like discharge. I really hope I don't get a YI after I am done. Honesty I would rather take the pill instead of this gel crap!

Was very surprised when it didn't hurt to insert, did the job well and didn't leak out at all, even when standing (although I used t before bed and tried to stay laying down). Currently on day 4, symptoms for BV are gone, now just worried about a possible yeast infection after reading the reviews! Eating lots of yogurt in the meantime. Very happy with this product!
I'm on day 3 of this medication and came here for answers on the cottage cheese discharge and the cramping. I had some noticeable cramping today while at work and I wondered if it was the medication. Thanks to all the other reviewers now I know it is normal but, before using the medication I had horrible discharge and that has dissipated which I'm happy about and so has the odor. So it's going great for me! Even though I hate sticking stuff up my hoo-ha I'm glad I didn't get the pill version because I probably would've had way worse symptoms.

I know when I have BV because of the foul smell when I urinate. As much as I try avoiding to go to gyn, the only thing that takes care of this problem for me is this medicine. It works by the second day, but I take the full five day course 1x/day so it stays at bay for a while. The cottage cheese discharge while using the medicine is normal and I also experience light cramping after tbe third day til I am done with the medicine.

I finally made an appointment after 6 months to see my gyn. My bf tells me i have a bad odor and its embarrassing, its been this way for months. Iam so relieved with this gel. Ive had no side effects it has such a smooth feel. Its my 4th day and I already see changes. it doesn't smell bad anymore and you can see your vagina pushing out the bacteria and working its magic. I recommend you to always use a pantyliner at least while being on the metro gel, no alcohol, and take a break from your bf for a week till you feel brand new again. My dr told me to prevent this from occurring again, you can't expose anything strongly scented to your vagina such as soaps, lotions and scented liners.TRUST your vagina to clean out itself, its not supposed to smell like flowers its supposed to smell like a vagina.

Since having my son 4 years ago will say that I have gotten BV over a dozen times. It is the most awful odor ever. Also the discharge is heavy and annoying. I usually take the Antibiotics which is a 10 day treatment twice a day which is followed usually by a yeast infection. I was skeptical about using this gel because I have to insert the medicine using an applicator. I am not to fond of inserting things inside of my vagina (I don't use tampons). So I get in the shower and plant my foot on the side of the tub and insert very slowly the gel is so smooth it almost feels like nothing. From the first treatment I noticed a difference. I was instructed to do it once a day for 5 days. This is the 4th day and I may have enough left over just in case of another outbreak. Which is good because this medicine is rather expensive. I am extremely please, and prefer this the antibiotic pill

I was suspicious of this at first since it looks like some kind of industrial silicone you'd use to caulk floor tiles, and since I had no symptoms leading me to believe that I had BV. My doctor prescribed two courses a day for five days, and the pharmacy was in shock and didn't believe her, so it took a few days to even get the meds. Once I started, I had headaches, but those quickly went away. On the second day I became very depressed, which is extremely unusual for me. On the third day I had cramps, and I did have dizziness on the last two days (days four and five), especially after working out, which made me very nervous. I'm in day five now, and have to say that I am definitely discharging a lot of stuff. If you've been the owner and operator of a vagina for some time, nothing that's coming out is going to scare you: I disagree with the reviews that it's "nasty." It's pretty run of the mill, it looks like cottage cheese: wear a pad! I'd advise any woman on this medication to do three things to make it easier on you: (1) dose yourself at exactly the same time each day (I had cramps when I got off schedule) (2) take good care of yourself: lots of rest, lots of water, lots of fresh vegetables and good, nutritious food. (3) Unless your boyfriend wants to just cuddle and cook for you, kick him out. You need a week without any interference so it can work its magic. And last of course: do not drink while on this medication. The warning on the package reads that you'll become "violently ill." The pharmacist and doctor both backed this up, so I took it seriously and don't plan to drink for three days after the last dose. All in all, it appears to be working. I'm a little weirded out that I had no idea that I had such an extreme case of BV, but glad that I'm seeing discharge, which means whatever was going on is clearing up.
Boom!
