I just took OTC's like Imodium to help, but when I was starting to become awakened in the middle of the night feeling like my insides were being twisted every which way I decided to see my doctor. I get severe vertigo caused by Multiple Sclerosis. It has been so bad that all I could do was lay in bed without even turning my head, otherwise I would vomit. Nothing helped. One of my neurologists decided to try Levsin sublingual and it helps a great deal. Only side effect for me is that it dries everything out, eyes, mouth, etc... This is an off label use, and not known about by most doctors.
