What is Synarel used for?Synarel (nafarelin) is commonly used to treat central precocious puberty and endometriosis.Synarel may also be used for other conditions as determined by your health care provider.How does Synarel work (mechanism of action)?Synarel works by blocking certain hormones in the body. Specifically, it tells the brain to ignore gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which is responsible for telling the body to start puberty. What should I do if I accidentally use too much Synarel?If you or someone else has used too much Synarel, get medical help right away, call 911, or contact a Poison Control center at 800-222-1222.What should I do if I miss a dose of Synarel?If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and only take the next dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

Do not use Synarel if you are breastfeeding. See the Breastfeeding section for more details.Vaginal Bleeding. Do not use Synarel if you have vaginal bleeding that has not received a diagnosis. If you do have a diagnosis with vaginal bleeding, talk with your health care provider to see if Synarel is safe for you. What should I know about Synarel before using it?Do not use Synarel unless it has been prescribed to you by a health care provider. Use it as prescribed.Do not share Synarel with other people, even if they have the same condition as you. It may harm them.Keep Synarel out of the reach of young children.In the first few weeks of treatment, Synarel can cause some hormones to have higher levels. The hormone levels should go back down within two months of starting treatment, but during this time, you may experience irregular vaginal spotting or bleeding. Call your health care provider if this lasts for longer than two months.Synarel can alter test results in pituitary-gonadotropic and hormone function tests while you are using the medicine and even after your last dose. Tell any health care provider you are seeing that you are using Synarel.Keep all appointments to see your health care provider. They will do regular exams and blood tests to ensure that Synarel is safe for you to take. They will also show you have to use the nasal spray correctly. Make sure to use Synarel exactly as they tell you.It is important to try to avoid sneezing while using Synarel or right after to make sure the dose can get absorbed into the body. What should I tell my health care provider before using Synarel?Tell your health care provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. You should use a nonhormonal birth control (such as condoms) while using Synarel. Tell your health care provider if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. If you become pregnant, contact your health care provider right away. Breastfeeding. It is not known if Synarel passes into breast milk. Do not use Synarel while breastfeeding.
