What is Oxytrol used for?Oxytrol (oxybutynin) is commonly used to treat overactive bladder, when you have an urgent need to pee even if your bladder is not full, wetting accidents because of a strong need to pee, or frequent peeing.Oxytrol may also be used for other conditions as determined by your healthcare provider.Oxybutynin is also available in forms that are taken by mouth. Oxytrol should be stored at room temperature, between 68 F to 77 F (20 C to 25 C). It can be exposed to temperatures between 59 F to 86 F (15 C to 30 C) for shorter periods of time, such as when transporting it. Store in a cool, dry place. Protect Oxytrol from moisture and humidity.

Does Oxytrol interact with foods or drinks?There are no known interactions between Oxytrol and foods or drinks.It is unknown if drinking alcohol will affect Oxytrol. The risk of drowsiness may be increased if you drink alcohol while taking Oxytrol.Does Oxytrol interact with other medicines (drug interactions)?Oxytrol interacts with many other medicines. Oxytrol may cause allergic reactions, which can be serious. Stop using Oxytrol and get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.Breathing problems or wheezingRacing heartFever or general ill feelingSwollen lymph nodesSwelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throatTrouble swallowing or throat tightnessItching, skin rash, or pale red bumps on the skin called hivesNausea or vomitingDizziness, feeling lightheaded, or faintingStomach crampsJoint painAngioedema. Oxytrol may cause a rare reaction called angioedema. The usual symptoms of this reaction include swelling of the lips, face, tongue, or throat. Stop taking this medicine and contact your healthcare provider if you have this type of swelling. If you are having trouble breathing, get medical attention right away.Inability to Empty Bladder (Urinary Retention). Oxytrol might make it harder to empty your bladder, especially if you already have a blockage or take other medicines for overactive bladder. Call your healthcare provider right away if you cannot empty your bladder.Heat Exhaustion or Heat Stroke. Oxytrol can affect your ability to regulate your body temperature. This could make you become very hot, especially in hot weather. What should I do if I accidentally use too much Oxytrol?If you or someone else has used too much Oxytrol, get medical help right away, call 911, or contact a Poison Control center at 800-222-1222.What should I do if I miss a dose of Oxytrol?If you forget to change a patch, put one on as soon as you remember. If it is almost time to put on your next patch, wait until then to apply a new patch and skip the one you missed. Do not apply extra patches to make up for a missed dose.

Do not use Oxytrol if you have a condition called urinary retention.Slow Emptying of the Stomach (Gastric Retention). Do not use Oxytrol if you have delayed or slow emptying of your stomach, a condition called gastric retention.Glaucoma. Do not use Oxytrol if you have uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, a condition that causes increased pressure inside the eye.What should I know about Oxytrol before using it?If oxybutynin was prescribed to you by a healthcare provider, use it as prescribed.Do not share Oxytrol that was prescribed for you by a healthcare provider with other people, even if they have the same condition as you. It may harm them.Keep Oxytrol out of the reach of children. Discard the used Oxytrol patch in the trash, making sure to keep it safe from children, pets, or others.Do not divide or cut the patch into pieces.Wear only 1 Oxytrol patch at a time. Do not use the same skin site within 7 days. Wear the patch all the time until it is time to apply a new one.Choose a new skin site for each new patch application. Do not apply the patch on an area of your skin that has been treated with oils, lotions, or powders, because it could keep the patch from sticking well to your skin. Wear your patch under clothing. Do not expose it to sunlight. When you have contact with water when you are bathing, swimming, or exercising, it will not change the way that Oxytrol works. Avoid rubbing the patch area.Oxytrol can cause blurry vision, dizziness, and drowsiness.
