Ladies- be very careful before choosing a form of birth control, please make sure to cover every angle of birth control with your doctor. I am 17 years old and had been on Previfem for almost 3 months for cramps, and I noticed a swelling in my left arm. I went to the ER to find out that I have a blood clot due to a mixture of being a base in cheerleading for 13 years, having thoracic outlet syndrome (a compressing of my veins which I didnâ??t know I had), and taking Previfem because of the estrogen in it, which has been known to cause blood clots. Now I have to give myself blood thinner injections twice a day! Please make sure to talk to your doctor about all your physical activities especially if you are a cheerleader or gymnast or do a sport with the same repetitive motion! Good luck.

I've been taking Previfem for about 7 months. The first two months I was maybe a little bloated and nauseous but since then, I've had no side effects. I haven't gained weight on this pill, unlike other birth controls that I've tried and I actually feel like I've had less cramping/lighter and shorter periods. Love it!

After giving this pill a chance for 6 weeks, I finally had to stop taking it because of the crazy mood side effects it was giving me. I experienced extreme mood swings, irritability, and felt depressed. Before taking this pill, I had never felt this way before. Also, I had zero sex drive while taking this pill. The first few weeks I was nauseous every day, but after 2 weeks the nausea ended. Although the pill was effective, the side effects were not at all worth taking it and I switched pills

On my periods I use to throw up, have unbearable pain. Periods would last up to 2 weeks. This pill has changed my life and my akin is now flawless. I haven't had any negative side effects and I've been on the pill for 2 years.

Started taking this medicine three months ago for hormonal migraines. I was told to take it 3 packs straight without taking a week off. The first week was awful with headaches, hot flashes, cold sweats, nausea, and dizziness. Now, after 9 weeks of no period, I am experiencing extreme mood swings (I cried over strawberries), my eyesight has gotten worse, and have been spotting for over a month. Still not sure if it will prevent my migraine in the off week or not but I'm not sure that this is worth not having a migraine.

To All Previfam Users: This Is My Story… After reading all of these posts, I decided I was going to change my birth control from Microgestin to Previfem because I’ve been so depressed – even my boyfriend was complaining about my personality and bitchiness every day – I just wasn’t doing anything right! After I changed my birth control, my boyfriend was still complaining about me on a more frequent basis but this time he stopped helping me with dishes and buying groceries, then went out of town which cost him hundreds of dollars but in the spirit of saving money, I wasn't allowed to buy coffee creamer. I became even more depressed, but I discovered it was my boyfriend depressing me! I’m still on Previfem but I’m happier than I’ve ever been, and no acne! Thank you Previfem! You’ve given me clear skin, no unintended pregnancies, lighter periods and the strength to get away from a horrible man!

I'm still taking this pill, I am only in the first month, I wanted to stop taking it like in the middle of the second week but my doctor said I had to finish the cycle. it gives me a lot of nauseas. I have to eat constantly even if im not hungry because it gives me a lot of nauseas, I haven't gained weight though. A lot of changes in my mood, like sad or depressed. And the worst part I've had the period for the whole month non stop. HORRIBLE! Can you image having your period the entire month?! that includes the vaginal pain, and the bad smell that cause having your period!

I started this pill around Feb of this year...Gave it four solid months and it prevented pregnancy but i gained 10 lbs as a result. I was moody and my periods were very painful..I also had HEAVY periods. Before this i was on loestrin 24 fe and that worked but i was having hot flashes and the hormones were too low now that i am an adult. ANywho i switched to microgestin which is a generic to lo estrin 21..hopefully this one pans out....so far i am on my period with no cramps and LIGHT bleeding..yay

Before I begin, let me just say this is my personal review on this, as is everyones. Just because my experience wasnt good does not mean it'll be the same for you. To help with this review I will give some basic details of myself. I am 28 yrs old, 5'10 and 150lbs. I started taking birth control to help with my demonic cramps since I was 15, before i was sexually active. I was on Lo Estrin 24 FE, the brand not the generic and it worked perfect except I suffered from hot flashes..My doc changed me just recently to a higher estrogen dose pill called mononessa. I was put on the generic of this which is previfem. The moment I started this pill I began weight gain. Granted, my diet doesnt help as I eat horribly, BUT my metabolism always took care of that. Anywho, I gained 10lbs in the 4 months I was on it. (My boobs got bigger though! tehe :P small 34B to a full 34C only plus side here lol) My sex drive was GONE. No motivation..and i am one horny mofo usually..my moodiness wasnt too noticeable...acne was gone...and I didnt get pregnant...Overall it worked to prevent that BUT the weight gain was a no no for me...I just switched off of it back to the brand of lo estrin but this time I am taking the higher dose of lo estrin fe 1.5/30 vs the 1/20 I was taking at a younger age...Since I switched to date I have lost ALL the water weight! ALL OF IT! :) My boobs are still there and my sex drive is back....so did the previfem work, yes, but was it worth the side effects NO. FYI I am currently on the generic to lo estrin fe called Microgestin. I cannot do the gildess as it is manufactured by the same company that does the previfem and the fillers they use do not agree with my body.. Another note: I do not take my pill on the hour..i take it when i remember, mostly in the morning but if i forget and take it late in afternoon there is no negative affect on me... no pregnancies and never had an abortion. Not sure if all this helps you but hey, tried to give a thorough review!

I was taking these for my endometriosis and by the 8th day became very dizzy all the time. I continued to take them for 15 days total before I could no longer function due to being dizzy no matter what I did. So I called and had my Dr changer my birth control so far it's been 3 days and the dizziness seems to be subsiding.

I hate this pill!!! I originally was prescribed previfem for ovarian cysts, but also for birth control. I have been on it for two cycles and feel like I'm losing my mind. I have never been a depressed person but every day for the past three weeks or so I have had such bad anxiety to the point where I have been calling off of work, refusing to attend classes, and do nothing but lay in bed. I have zero sex drive and no appetite, yet awful stomach pains as if I was hungry. DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL. I stopped two nights ago and cannot wait to get this monster out of my system.

I have taken previfem for 1 year now. This is the first pill I have tried and overall it is good but I think I will be switching. Pros: -Much shorter, lighter, and less painful periods (went from 7 days to 4, no more IBS, went from 100% unfunctionable pain to about 15% pain during period) -Breasts went from A cup to full B cup :) -Didn't gain more than 5 pounds Cons: -My occular migraines have not gone away, infact may have even worsened. I had migraines the entire first week of the pill (never happened that much in my life before) I was hoping the pill would reduce my migranes, now it's once a month either before, on, or after period. -My sex drive has become non-existent.

I was on Previfem for a year. I was pretty satisfied with it. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. My boyfriend & I talked about me getting off of the pill to see if perhaps it was causing me to gain weight, seeing as how my diet and exercise routines didn't seem to be working quite as well as I thought. I have been off of the pill for 2 weeks now, and honestly I do feel a few changes! Firstly, my sex drive is back. I didn't realize how much the pill just made me not want to have sex. Second thing is that my appetite seems to have decreased! I was ALWAYS hungry while on the pill! I could have an entire meal and feel stuffed... but within an hour, I'd feel hungry again! I've been out to eat a few times in the passed 2 weeks, and each time, I left my plate half full! Normallly I would devour every single thing on my plate! I've also lost a couple of lbs since stopping the pill! Not sure if anyone else experienced dry eye, but my eyes don't feel as dry now that I'm off the pill! Overall, the pill obviously did it's job, but for me, looking back, it really took a toll on my body! Going to look at different options in the future!

I have been on Previfem for 3 months now. Pros: has shortened my periods from 7 days to 5 days. Cons: slight nausea after taking the pill first 2 months, which was not too bad since I would take it later in the evenings. But it has started to wear off. Other than the nausea, I think Previfem works great as a pill form for birth control.

Comment from: Lydia Castillo 19-24 Female 1 to 6 months Patient Published: May 05

On my second month of Previfem, its my first time using birth control and it definitely hasnt been the best experience either. My boyfriend and myself have noticed crazy mood swings, one minute I'm fine next I'm completely balling my eyes out. I've gotten very depressed and have gained about 2-3 pounds, nothing dramatic. I've also noticed minor headaches, bad nausea and an increase of blurred vision. My periods are still pretty normal and havent had any acne issues either. Due to the depression and nausea I'm definitely considering switching.

Ive been on this birth control.. ironically since Mother's day of 2014. At first i noticed that if i didnt take th epill with food id get really light headed or nausea i guess you can say. I did lkose my appetite for sex as well. As the months went on my body began to get used to it. There was a point where i felt like i was just so depressed and almost suicidal. But ive gottenthrough it and am still taking the pills daily. Overall, id say i love these. my body is regulated now i am able to figure out if anything is wrong. I recognize my symptoms alot more now when my period comes and am very happy with that. I no longer get nausea, and very little depression now.. which is 12/23/2014

It's strange because it has a full week of placebo pills. However, it took about four days for my period to start, so I only had a three day period that was relatively light. Also, on this pill, I had no spotting in the middle of the month. Much better than the Minastrin I was on before.
