I'm a 29 years old Asian woman. I am taking this medication for my high cholesterol and Triglyceride. My doctor has warned me about the side effect of this drug, particularly the muscle weakness. Almost one month into taking this drug, I have experienced rash/itchiness all over my body (night time is the worst), joint pain, tiredness/low energy, and heartburn (night time). Since this drug is quite expensive, I am going to finish the 30 pills bottle that I paid for ($187.70), then I will ask my doctor to switch something else for me. I couldn't stand the side effects especially the rash and joint pain.

Has helped to lower my cholesterol and triglyceride levels to acceptable ranges, with excercize being a crucial component to the regimen. I probably don't watch my diet as much as I should.

(almost killed me!) After taking for about a year with no major issues, I had to go into the hospital due to serious pain in my stomach. I always had a bad back so I never attributed my back pain to antara. After a year of taking this medicine it built up a sludge that shut down the pancreas. Two reason it's important to know this; One, this major side effect does not occur until prolonged use and many people may think they can tolerate the medication well. Two, the symptoms, back pain, acid reflux and stomach pain are so general that they are often ignored before full blown pancreatitis. FYI - pancreatitis is one of the most painful things that can happen to you.

I found myself to be extremely exhaused and unfocused while on this medication. Napped early evening almost daily - sometimes slept instead of having dinner. Sleep broken into two 5 hr segments daily. Coul dnot get up for work on time. Stopped 1 week ago and finally feeling better. Triglcerides after 60 days of use unchanged - still high.

I can not tolerate statins so I tried Antara. While I did not get muscle pain, it left me nauseated and depressed. I stopped taking it because of those effectson my system.

I started Antara, and after four or five days experienced severe back pain, I Think it's my right kidney.I discontinued and most of the pain diminished but i still have some soreness. Going to the doctor to change my medication and examine my back and kidney.I hope there's no permanent damage.

I have been using Antara for 1 1/2 months now. Can't get the blood test 'til next month. They cover my $10/month co-pay. The Pharmacist gave me their information. It's covered for a year. The only problem I've had is some weird (like hot flashes) from it. I can tolerate it though.
