• Pregabalin: Pregabalin is an anticonvulsant drug used to treat seizures, and also pain from nerve damage (neuropathy) and fibromyalgia. Pregabalin blocks pain transmission in the nerves by preventing the nerve cells (neurons) from releasing chemicals (neurotransmitters) that carry pain signals and conduct electrical activity in the brain.
• Milnacipran hydrochloride: Milnacipran is an antidepressant medication known as serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), used to treat depression and fibromyalgia. Serotonin and norepinephrine are hormones involved in the modulation of mood and pain, and milnacipran increases their levels by inhibiting reabsorption in the brain.
• Ziconotide acetate: Ziconotide is a non-opioid analgesic that is administered as an injection into the spinal canal (intrathecal) to treat chronic pain that is not relieved by alternate medications. Ziconotide prevents transmission of pain through the spine by blocking calcium channels on neurons which enable conduction of nerve signals.
