Stay away from this dangerous drug! It put me in the hospital for four nights. Causes sudden head spinning, Chest pain, which from mri and x-rays it may of caused mini strokes. It can cause sudden blood pressure to shoot up with no warning. The first time I experienced the sudden head spinning was when I had just walked o my back porch about to come in the door everything suddenly started spinning, so I held onto the siding of the house and slowly made my way in to lay down. The 2nd time it happened an abundance had to come to my work and take me to the ER which resulted in a 4 night hospital stay. Also it can cause diabetes, kidneys not to filter severe headaches, dizziness, nauseous, eye vision loss, severe joint pain even to the point of causing me not to be able to walk. When Tirosint became partners with IBSA here in DC and Delaware things changed drastically. Something is definitely going on with the ingredients. I'll never take anything like that again. A lot of the thyroid meds have changed in the last 3 years. I felt great after stopping this drug!
I have Hashimotos and have felt terrible for years on Thyroxin. My doctor suggested Tirosint as it is absorbed better by the body than other preparations. This means you need a take a lower dose of Tirosint than Thyroxin or you will effectively be overdosing. We lowered the dose and after a few weeks I felt so much better! It is easy to take and so much more effective. I still feel tired a lot but am no longer absolutely exhausted all the time and my brain feels more alert. I would not be without it! Here in Germany where I live, Tirosint is new and relatively unknown. I pay 30 Euro for a pack of 100 tablets - about $33.
I so wanted to love Tirosint. I’ve tried to take it on an off for over a decade, but have a horrendous reaction every time. I thought I was just allergic to the porcine gelatin, but after reading all the other bad reviews, I suspect it’s something more - possibly the glycerol. I causes horrendous side effects for me. Massive eye irritation, dryness and swelling, blurry vision, headache, lightheadedness, dizziness, stinging burning pain, aches and pains all over, intense tremor/internal vibration, heart palps, rapid heart rate, breathlessness, congestion, intense fatigue, muscle weakness (especially legs), hair loss, rashes, tremendous stomach and intestinal upset and inflammation, nausea, anxiety, etc. It’s not the dose. I’m taking 75 mcgs, which is the right dose for me. It’s the ingredients. I’m done trying. It’s going in the garbage tonight.
The first few days I started noticing a headache that never went away until after I quit the medicine. My mouth gums and tongue started getting very painful it was red with sores and ulcers with white stuff around the edges. My tongue swelled up until it barely fit in my mouth and hard to talk. I quit the medicine at that point. It took months and months for my mouth to heal. Yeast medicine finally helped.
I started taking Tirsonit on July, 23 it began with a headache that would change me in go in the morning, then it attacked my joints and fingers that pain went away two later. Now August entered and the buttocks pain tingled in the hands and feet, tremors in the body. By mid-August I stopped taking them and began with Levrothoxzine 75 mcg by the time I did blood work I went from level 15 to 65. Now my Dr has me levothyroxine 100 mcg and my entire right sight is tingling and pain in the leg. That came back from taking that medication. Horrible and expensive.
I have been on Synthroid for 20 years without any remarkable issues besides some GI upset / reflux. My Endo switched me to TIROSINT 1:1 and let me tell you - it’s AWFUL. The ONLY good side effect is more energy. But you can’t turn it off - resulting in insomnia, staring at the ceiling. Dry eyes, heart palpitations, high BO, high heart rate, hair loss, numb left arm and leg, leg cramps, muscle tremors, spasms, and PAIN. The pain is unlike anything I can describe!!!!!! Lower back / hip / buttocks and leg pain. Been back on Synthroid 2 weeks and slowly the pain is just now starting I get less. I thought I was dying!!!!!! It’s been awful!!!
I switched from Levo 125 to Tirosint 125 and since then I've been dealing with EXTREME insomnia ever since. Daily back-to-back insomnia, at least 3 panic attacks, 2 panic attacks in public, and driving unsafely. I feel unstable. I love the idea of having more energy and with Celiac disease it seems like a no-brainer. As I'm writing this I just went through another panic attack and I feel extremely cold and I got insomnia again on Tirosint 125 on 6/27/2023 on Tuesday. This medication has literally wrecked my life and I don't think I can continue taking it. I will be switch back over to my levo medication.
I have been on Synthroid and T3 without any side effects. Due to persistent tiredness my doc put me on 13 mkg of Tirosint Sol. Within a day I had extreme headaches. Second day I experienced severe anxiety, tinnitus, dizziness, shakiness, heart palpitations: It was so bad I though I was dying with HR of 150, BP 150/90.I went to the ER and they took me off Tirosint Sol. After two weeks I am having irregular heartbeats and my pulse is all over the place - from 60-100 and my BP is still way high. I have anxiety and dizzy spells. The anxiety has calmed down a bit but is still there. I only hope it will go away as the Tirosint Sol leaves my body. The way I feel since testing Tirosint Sol is no joke - I still feel awful every day and I have tinnitus, spinning and dizziness and anxiety attacks with numbness and pain in my arm and heart. I never had anxiety or heart issues before. This medicine is way too potent and should not be taken without close doctor monitoring.
I’ve had hashimotos since 2016 have tried several different meds over the years (armour, synthroid, Levothyroxine, Unithroid, levoxyl and most recently Tirosint) I switched from 100mcg of Levoxyl to 100mcg tirosint 3 days ago, and was excited to try since it has less fillers, dyes etc. needless to say I have felt absolutely horrible and stopped taking it today. The first day I was fine but day 2 and 3 I thought something was seriously wrong with me. My left arm was numb and my hand was tingling, my legs felt weak and shaky and I had an inner tremble along with severe anxiety. It is 100% this med causing this and I just spent a ton of money for a 90 day supply and don’t care if it ends up in the trash at this point. I will never take it again. Going back to Levoxyl tomorrow.
I switched to this medication three weeks ago from Synthroid. I’ve been incredibly anxious, insomnia is horrible, my joints are hurting so bad I’m finding it difficult to move. My heart feels like it’s pounding out of my chest and I’ve had two anxiety attacks over the past week that have resulted in shortness of breath. I’m sorry I was so slow to put things together that it is absolutely this medication doing this to me. I’ve been on thyroid medication for 30 years and never had anything like this happen. I’m going back to my 1.27 Synthroid. I think this could be a very dangerous drug for some. The other evening I was having pains shooting down my left arm, and on the left side of my chest and I thought about going to ER . Again, not putting two into together that it was this medication. I decided to take two aspirin and tough it out. I will never take his medicine again and I hope the three weeks that I’ve been on. It hasn’t been too much permanent damage.
Ive taken just about every thyroid replacement drugs out there over the past 40 years. About 15 years ago, something went haywire and it seems the meds just dont work anymore. (Ive had RAI so I no longer have a functioning thyroid). I thought Id try Tirocint brand. Firstly, its expensive, but if it works Id gladly pay to get my quality of life back. Sadly, i felt no improvement in my debilitating fatigue. Two very UNWANTED side effects I did get were extreme hair loss (NEVER had hair loss before on ANY brand!) and insomnia. I took it for a full three months. The hair loss was a deal breaker. Its awful! I have about half the thickness of ponytail now.
I have been on 5-6 different thyroid medications since I was 6. I also have a pituitary tumor which messes up my hormones. Last year in Oct. 2021 my levo meds stopped working and my TSH was over 150. I was very sick. My doc put me on 125 Tirosint and I started feeling much better. Then this May, I started feeling bad again. I put on 15 pounds, feet swelling, exhausted, depressed and my doc did blood work. My TSH is in range. I am having spasms in my feet, legs, chest and my tongue is swollen again. My doc referred me to heart doc, I go tomorrow. Is this medicine to blame?
Extreme intestinal issues. Stomach cramping. Horrible night sweats and headaches. Will discontinue asap!! Plus it’s too expensive!!
I don't know whether to pass out or throw up. I've been on nearly every thyroid medicine and none of them relieve Hashimoto's side effects and only cause debilitating cardiac, pulmonary, and neuromuscular side effects. Tirosint is no better. I can keep myself sick more cost effectively on generic levothyroxine. I've lost 7+ years of my life taking thyroid meds that have made me sicker than the disease itself. The doctor's are completely ignorant. All they know is to normalize TSH and act like I'm the only person they've ever seen with continuing side effects. Apparently, they don't have enough ambition to even visit thyroid advocacy sights or reviews like this one as the discontent is clear. It is beyond ridiculous.
RAI treatment due to Graves Disease in 1992 I have taken almost every thyroid medication prescribed but I was recently prescribed Tirosint after being unable to get Nature-throid and due to the inconsistency of compounded NDT. No problems for the first 7 weeks and then began BP issues, all over itching, restless legs, tingling which would not stop and unable to sleep. I had blood work testing for my upcoming dr appt and my levels were all within range but the side effects are miserable. Stopped taking it.

QUESTION
Where is the thyroid gland located? See AnswerI used to take tirosint but i had stop then the do tor prescribed me the tirosint agaun for my thyroid condition Hashimoto and i regreted taking it i been having nightmares, legcramps, fatigue, depression and my heart keeps on flattering like if it stops...is a horrible feeling i have no energy all i want to do is stay on bed i have no motivation to get up and do stuff or not even shopping wish i love shopping ?? i dont know what else to take cause armour makes me feel worse and the only thing it really helped me was the nature throid but is on recall. Any suggestions
I have never felt better great product
Made a huge difference in my hair, nails, eyes, monthly cycle and bowl movements.
It took a long while, but this medication finally started working in a big way. My hair feels thicker, though still sort of brittle/dry, and I have lost about ten pounds. I didn't really need to, but I sure feel leaner and better! I have more energy and better bowel movements. I do have dry eyes, but that could be related to the many surgeries I have had for detached retina. Overall, very happy and my levels are back on track, too.
I went on this because I received advice that it is beter and purer than generic levothyroxine. Right away I began having heart palpitations, dizziness, brain fog, anxiety and panic. I hate to say I did not make the connection because I do have PVCs and a panic/anixiety disorder, but it's been calm for a long while. I did an ER visit, and a heart monitor, and I thought, you know what, let's go back to the generic and boom! Barely any palps, calm, feel human again in just a few days. I think tIrosint is just too strong for me. I'm on 25mcg.
