This medication has improved my bloating and softened stool. I had tried probiotics, increased fiber, increased water consumption and nothing worked. I feel so much better taking these meds. So grateful!

Explosive diarrea within an hour. Worse than colonoscopy prep

I was having problems with flat fragmented stool I told the doctor it was not hard I just wasn't having frequent bowel movements. I started with them middle dose and had explosive diarrhea went to the lowest dose had explosive diarrhea. I never really fully understood what explosive diarrhea was but I am 52 and unfortunately I now know. I couldn't even make it to the toilet it was on the floor all over the back of the toilet sorry to be disgusting but you better be real careful taking this. I took it in advance of breakfast as prescribed. I feel this is dangerous this could be used for colonoscopy prep.

I made an account just so I can share my experience. At 26 years old I struggled with chronic unexplained constipation nearly my whole life. Colonoscopies at only 17 years old trying to figure out what's wrong. Living off of laxatives for years so I could have relief. In January of 2024, my GI recommended Linzess. I had seen commercials for it and was so happy she brought it up. Now, the first couple weeks were a little rough adjusting to it, it doesn't joke when it says it'll help you go. But now I am almost 11 months going on this medication and I feel amazing. I don't bloat anymore, I feel relief almost daily, I rarely get the gassy side effects. My only warning is make sure you take it daily. I missed two days worth of it and it threw off my routine for nearly a week. You have to take it daily and try to take it at the same time every day! I like to take it with a light meal and a TON of water. All in all, Linzess was a blessing in my life. BTW, the longest I ever went without pooping before Linzess was 4 weeks! NEVER AGAIN

I took this 30 minutes before any meal and had 4 sessions on the toilet spewing out acid-like, brown water that burned and left me sore. No hard stools in sight! This felt like bowel prep before a colonoscopy. I can't imagine taking this every day or travelling anywhere once it's taken!

I started Linzess because IBS-C was affected my ability to function and made me miserable. I’ve been on 72mg for three months, and my symptoms are nearly resolved — though I have a few bouts of pain and bloating. I take dicyclomine on those days. Not sure when it started, but back surgery three years ago made me horribly constipated from taking opioids for pain relief. Sounds like I got stuck in the same cycle of OTC drugs, fiber, etc, as many others. This drug is the first to give me daily relief with regular bowel movements and relief from bloating. It was worth a try — and it’s helping me live a more normal life.

I was prescribed this for constipation (small hard pebbles). I took it only once because shortly after I took it I had a bowel movement, still pebbles, and then brown acid like water which burned terrible. I had to cancel work that day. Never again!!

This medication is what I call..."Exlax on steroids"!!!!!! It worked but too well, that is I didn't have constipation any longer but the diarrhea, having to sit on the toilet for at least an hour, flipping a coin to see IF I dare leave the house, and the closeness of a toilet. I even went from 290 mcg down to 72, not much difference. I have to find something else.

I was given a diagnosis of IBS-C...pretty much a I have no idea what your problem is so we'll just call it IBS-C!! REDICULOUS as I had not a single symptom however my GI doc at the time prescribed Linzess. Well I had no more relief then if I'd used Miralax and it's a $600 a month medication...seriously!!! I am now using Senna and pay only $4 a bottle!!

This is the first medicine to make me feel better. It worked amazing for the first two weeks but then I broke into hives and had severe diarrhea.

I have been a chronic opioid user (suboxone for recovery) for years. In the last 2-3 yrs. opioid related constipation has gotten bad ...eventually having intestinal surgery. Before & after surgery I was prescribed otc miralax. It helped somewhat but I had to pee 20 times a night. I quit the miralax and a Dr prescribed linzess 290 mgs. There was some initial diarrhea but only little first day or two. Since then (about 6 -8 months) it has worked pretty most of the time. I still have to watch my fiber etc. But here's the problem. I developed overactive bladder and have pee at night often every 20 minutes, ALL NIGHT LONG!! It has severely affected my quality of life. But I'm not sure if it's related to the linzess or not. Drs seem to think not. It's almost impossible to stop in order to see be I become immediately constipated. Has anyone experienced frequent urination from this medication?

I went to the hospital thinking I was having a gallbladder attack. I was in unbearable pain. Testing showed I had stool backed up to my small intestine. After a few days of getting out of the hospital I visited my family doctor. He put me on linzess. This medicine changed my quality of life for the better.

I have IBS- and Linzess started working OK at first I was running to the bathroom because the diarrhea was real. Run Forest run.???????? this medication ain’t no damn joke. I had a lot of bloating, and still having constipation. My stomach had pain and I didn’t understand why and where it was coming from the Linzess stopped working so I finally made another doctor’s appointment. The doctor took my doses up to 290. I’m getting a CT Scan done on my stomach to make sure there aren’t any complications going on. In the meantime, I’m going to try the 290 dose and see how I do do …. Get it …do do ????????

This medication has saved me from a life sentence of chronic constipation and all of the side effects that occur with 30+ years of IBS-C. I knew my IBS-C was inconvenient but until recently I thought using the restroom twice a week was a lot and hadn't realized how miserable I really was and how many symptoms are caused by literally being full of $#_&! I had to have my doctor adjust my dosage a couple times to get the perfect dose and being a new medicine, my doctor wasn't an expert on how it would effect everyone individually but with a little patience and a few weeks staying close to the toilet I couldn't be happier with the outcome! If you truly have severe ibsc you will know that a few weeks of uncomfortableness is nothing for months and months and now years of being symptom free! I am no longer fatigued I feel lighter I act happier there's actually a bit of pep in my step now as I look forward to taking my days on! I'm sad that I missed feeling good and didn't realize that what I was experiencing wasn't normal aging. I didn't know how many symptoms I really had that were caused by ibsc that I just thought were normal and now realize that they are not normal and it is a wonderful feeling to be able to go to the bathroom every day. For those who are not affected at all to those who are getting diarrhea I'm telling you stick with it, have your doctor adjust your dose, drink plenty of water and you too can get permanent relief. As was explained to me with first prescription by both my doctor and my pharmacist, it's not a take one time miracle cure, it's a process and it's something that you have to stick with but if you're willing to stick some cramps and diarrhea or some constipation and bloating while you get your dosage right, it will pay off. I've been on this for several years now and I am ecstatic about this drug. It would be devastating to me if something were to happen to my prescription and I had to go back to living (if that's what you really want to call it) the way I was before. Maybe it's not for everybody but boy am I glad it works for me! The side effects only lasted about a week after I got the correct dosage and have been side effect free ever since.

I've been taking Linzess for over 3 weeks and it has made my constipation worse. It was hard enough before, but now they are so much bigger I can't pass them at all. Same rock hard consistency. I'm so jealous of the people saying they got diarrhea in the first few days.

Comment from: Marie 45-54 Transgender 1 to 6 months Caregiver Published: March 09

So I have been taking Linzess for a couple months and it has definitely helped with my constipation, however, the bloating is terrible, my stomach just inflates since I have taken this and it makes me uncomfortable and feel fat. It does also cause some gas for me but the bloating is really making me change my mind on taking this even though it works great to help my IBS-C. I do get diarrhea but it stops within about 4 hours from taking Linzess.
