I have been taking the medication for just over a year and the generic tends to not work as evenly throughout the day as the brand. Generic also causes headaches while the day is coming to an end. I have to take other medication for sleeping and if I don’t stay on my routine within 10-15 minutes of what’s normal, it will mess me up for the following day and be very hard to get back on track. The healthier the meal the better on both brand and generic. Higher protein on the generic will cause diarrhea. Sweets on the generic will cause nausea.

I have been on ADD medication since I was 8, trying many different medications until I was put on vyvanse in 8th grade. Vyvanse was night and day compared to any of the other ADD medications. I had no jitteryness, I could eat normally, and function naturally. I was on the brand name vyvanse 60mg from 2015- 2023 and it worked well all through out that time, no inconsistency whatsoever. I do all of the things that would help increase its effectiveness (or help me with my ADD) which include: get 7-8hrs of sleep (consistent sleep schedule), exercise everyday, eat under 15g of added sugar daily, have balanced meals, take it 15 minutes before eating in the morning, take it at a consistent time, and I consume no caffeine whatsoever. Once I started taking the generic, I had symptoms that I haven’t had since I was young! I could no longer focus, I was really struggling hard in my college classes (not bc of the difficulty) and at work, I was very emotionally unregulated, I was getting so sleepy all throughout the day (never had this with vyvanse ever), had headaches (almost as if I was in withdrawal), was not motivated and so much more. I went back on the brand and things got a lot better, then I’m back to square one with the generic where my insurance won’t cover the brand (even with a prior authorization). I thought the generic issue would be resolved by now but I’m worried about this upcoming semester because I can hardly focus and the old symptoms have all returned. Maintaining ADD through medication needs to be consistent, these inconsistencies are not good for people with ADD (it places people in highs and lows and it’s so unhealthy for your mental state). They need to figure out this generic issue, it’s ridiculous to be unregulated after so many years of success. People’s emotional states are in jeopardy, this is a huge issue.

I have had an amazing experience switching from Concerta to Vyvanse and Atomoxetine in combination. My attention and impulsivity issues are almost non-existent when I am under the effects of them both. However, my appetite comes and goes, and I do experience more dizziness and nausea from sudden movements when on them, but this could be a side effect of one of the other medications I am taking. Overall my experience has been rather positive.

Works for the first few days so you get hopeful and then it leaves. The more you up your dose, the less time it "works" at the beginning. Got horrible nausea every morning on higher dosages. Had dry mouth and stomach pains and issues on all dosages.

Have been taking 70MG capsules for over 12 years. It really makes a difference with my energy level throughout the day. I can feel the effects of the medication working by the time I drive to work, and on occasions that I forget to take it I can tell during this part of the drive. Tried Adderall XR and other variance of ADD medications and this one assisted the best. There is still an occasional issue with maintaining concentration on task (diagnosed with AADD also) but has made a great improvement with daily tasks.

Absolutely helps with focus, but some jaw tension, and I need to take it early in the day (7am at latest) or it keeps me up at night.

I tried Adderall and Straterra first but Vyvanse 60 mg was what worked for me. Brain fog gone, I make better decisions, quit overeating & overthinking decisions. Able to feel like a normal person.

Found out as an adult this makes me feel normal and in control and I am less impulsive and make better decisions.

This medication worked for me from day one and my primary reaction was relief. Vyvanse is helping me recover from decades of multiple eating disorders and I am so grateful. At long last, I can eat a nourishing meal and feel satisfied by it, then go on with my day and not think about food until it's a normal time to eat again. For someone who's had chronic anorexia for decades, with binge eating as a resulting secondary disorder, this is like a miracle. I can finally figure out what I actually like to eat and how to eat a meal that I can enjoy, and not be consumed and obsessed by thoughts of food every waking minute. Definitely recommend therapy for helping anyone with eating disorders but there is clearly a physiological element too—I feel like Vyvanse is helping to reset my body to normal-person settings and the relief is immense. I started at 30mg and went up to 50mg since this is the normal progression, but found that dose too high (I was a bit jittery). So now I'm back at 30mg. No side effects apart from feeling slightly hyper about 2 hours after I take it, but nothing at all problematic. Hesitant about the generic due to reports of terrible headaches and nausea. It's not even that much less expensive (about 20% I think). So I'm staying on the brand-name version.

I've taken Vyvanse at varying doses (20mg-50mg) and it works WONDERS for ADHD and disassociative symptoms. However, in my experience there are a ton of side effects / withdrawl symptoms. Not taking it for a day or two causes me really bad irritability and brain fog, among other things. When I'm on the medication, even though it helps my symptoms, it often makes me nauseous or gives me headaches.

It's excellent and life-changing through helping me with my ADHD allowing me to be able to retain information and exceed in work & study rather than simply doing the bare minimum. I have very minimal to no side-effects, except for exacerbating my pre-existing Paranoia a minor amount.

Works great for me, it can take a bit of time get a good understanding of when you should take the meds and how they work for you, so you can have a good intuition of when and whether to take them or not on a given day. For me, it takes about an hour and half to kick in, and when it does I am AWAKE. This is one of the "side effects" which actually ends up being almost as helpful as the intended effect, because ADHD makes it incredibly difficult to wake up and stay awake when you need to. I have my alarm set for about 90 minutes before I need to get out of bed. When it goes off, I take the pill, turn the alarm off, and wake up feeling great, and ready to start the day. They also let me concentrate on command, but that's almost a given. I avoid taking these on weekends or during school holidays, as taking them continuously for too long increases the chance of adverse effects at higher dosages (I'm on 70mg). Overall, absolutely worth giving a try if other meds have failed or you haven't tried anything yet. Would recommend.

I was assessed for and diagnosed with severe adult ADHD (inattentive type) after years of incorrect depression and bipolar diagnosis and treatment. The psychiatrist who evaluated and diagnosed me decided to start me on dexamfetamine (dextroamphetamine) and lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) before other medications like Ritalin and Clonadine to see if that helped. I was highly reluctant to take them as I did not want to be on stimulants due to worrying about potential addiction and also suffering from panic disorder and anxiety disorder my whole life, but I took a 30mg capsule after a few days to see if it would help or cause issues, and the change was astounding. I could think clearly and focus properly for the first time in my life, and what I thought had been depression disappeared almost instantly. I didn't get any anxiety, elevated heart rate, or any of the adverse effects listed, and it didn't interfere with my sleep or appetite. I had my friends and family tell me I was a different person: happier, more focused, and more organized. I was slowly increased to 70mg a day and dexamfetamine 5mg up to six times a day if needed. And it has changed my life in a highly positive way. I still have not had any adverse effects. I also stopped them twice for a week to check for any withdrawal that may indicate addiction, but other than becoming less focused again, I had no issues. I am amazed at the change Vyvanse has made, as well as learning everything I could about managing ADHD. I am still getting extremely positive effects after a year and a half and have been able to focus on university study and work, and I can multi-task now when I couldn't focus on one task correctly all my life. Vyvanse won't work in this positive manner for everyone who tries it for ADHD, and everyone is different, but for me, it was a fantastic choice.

I was on 70mg last month but that was too strong so I changed today to 60mg and adderall 20mg for the afternoon and a 1mg of Xanax for bedtime. I took my medication and feel better. I’ve been off my medication for a week and a half because I have swallowing issues for months now. Finally got a GI and have to do an echocardiogram next week. I feel great with little side effects with vyvanse when I take it. Side effects for me is not feeling hungry and moderate anxiety that’s why I take the Xanax at night time

I’ve been on vyvanse and adderalland adderal XR for as many as 10-14 years. I love vyvanse because it’s smooth feeling. But sometimes in the late afternoon it starts to wear off so my doctor added a 10mg tab of dextroamphetanmine to keep me going till I wind down and go to bed

Comment from: alex 13-18 Transgender less than 1 month Caregiver Published: March 10

I feel great after taking vyvanse, I no longer overthink or procrastinate, and I’m much more motivated and on task with anything! but it usually only worked for me when taken on an empty stomach or after not eating for a while, once I eat the effects go away, and I can’t take another dose for lots of hours which isn’t very good for everyday use.

My son is 8 and lisdexamfetamine seemed to make him angry. He was worse on this medicine than before. We put him on 10 mg one month and then 20 mg for 1 month. His behavior got so much worse and he was extremely angry and mean while on it. Our 15 year old daughter is on 50 mg lisdexamfetimine/Vyvanse and it is very helpful for her. You can tell when she doesn’t take her medicine in the afternoon especially. So this medicine definitely depends on the child. It head horrible for our son. The anger side effect was really bad.

After two months even with a change in the prescription by my doctor. Vyvanse has little to no effect with no side effects, however. If I experience irritation, it's due to how much better I have felt, my doctor refusing to work with me (I'm of course not sure, but it seems she is not 'up' on the myriad of ADHD meds available.) Basically, I feel as if I ran into a brick wall.

I have been on Adderall, Ritalin and few others. None of which helped. My DR recommended Vyvanse and I believe I have my miracle drug. It has cleared up my brain fog, helped with my social anxiety and eating habits. I see many posts here were people are dissatisfied with Vyvanse. I speak from experience when I say that you have to keep trying different medication until you find the one that works for you. Ritalin helps a lot of ADHD sufferers but it did nothing for me. I have also learned that everybody's body reacts differently to medications. I have also learned that I need weekend vacations from the medication. That works best for me.

I don’t like this drug at all especially now that it’s about to be generic, I can only imagine. It only curbs my appetite for the first week.I can only imagine. Adderall XR plus Adderall IR work much better for weight control.
