I have been on this a couple of times for dental cyst pain/swelling. I love it, it works so much better than advil that doesn’t touch the excruciating pain and I am allergic to pain medication so I am thankful for it. I know it isn’t great to be on long term but when it is really needed it’s magical. I have so much energy and feel better than not being able to function

A year ago I had surgery for a stomach perforation. Doctor prescribed this for a back/hip injury. I probably shouldn’t have taken it. But I was desperate so I took it for 3 days until it hurt my stomach and abdomen, then it started to affect my colon. Had to run to the bathroom 4 times in one hour. I stopped taking it on the third day. It took a few weeks for everything to go back to normal. Thankfully it did.

If I could take this every day I would. The pain I go through during a flare up of arthritis or whatever it is happening to my body, becomes unbearable. When I start a dose pack of steroids, I can usually walk again by the second day. I don't like pain medications because all they do is make me sleepy and they don't take the pain away. With the steroids, I have tolerable pain and so much energy.

My doctor gave me the 6 day dose pack of Medrol for inflammation in my lower back. The pills did not help my back pain at all and it made me hateful, irritable, sweating at night profusely, metallic taste in mouth and I did not sleep well for 6 days.

I have taken this medication due to severe allergic reactions to stings, plants, chemicals and it was the only thing to work. It also works very good for my stenosis in my aging neck and lower back. The only side affect has been a little sleeplessness. This is a prescription medication, it may not work on everyone, that's why a doctor has to prescribe it and see how you are on it. If it doesn't work for you, ask for something else. As for me and my whole family (6 adults) it works fine!

I developed pain in middle finger and trigger finger. The surgery for trigger finger seemed to have gone fine, but remained with sharp pain and extreme stiffness in middle finger and at base. This my third medrol dose pack and works great taking away pain, but still have some stiffness. Not sure how often I can take this medication and will ask my doctor at next visit.

I was given one round of this medication for back pain and suffered an allergic reaction that caused me to go into liver failure. The written detailed materials given to me with the medication did explain this could be a very rare side effect but unfortunately you don't really always know you are allergic to a medication until it's too late. I am surviving but over a year later my liver is still injured. Just wanted to make people aware that even the very rare effects do happen to somebody. :(

Works great... But gives me severe anxiety and chills and sweats. I only take these packs in severe pain. I've had my c4 to c7 fused in neck. But the medication works even though they side effects suck. And I get very angry quickly.

This medication completely changed my mood, like I was angry or acting erratic. My boyfriend said I was the devil all the sudden! It was not a good feeling! I felt confused!

I know this medicine is effective in lessening or completely alleviating a lupus flare. I’ve also used it when my lungs have inflamed and asthma beck’s unbearable, and the relief was very fast- less than 25 hours. However, with any steroid… you have to take the good with the bad. For me, the sweating, insomnia, and-worst of all-mood swings, are just something that I need to trade for relief of things that take me out of my life. I always hope to not need it.. but if I need it, it does work. Such is life.

I wanted to write a review because I seriously scared myself reading all the negative reviews I almost did not take this. And I know there are others out there like me. I have not had any side effects, as I would not consider extra energy a side effect. I took the 6 day pack for hip, leg, knee and foot pain (most likely sciatica) and for a rash that developed after the swimming pool. I am an anxious person so the fear of side effects is tremendous! I know I shouldn't read reviews because everyone has a different experience but I just can't help it and its good to be prepared. I am so glad I took this medicine it worked wonderful for me. I am pain and rash free. The only other medicine I am take it clonazepam and metformin ER no interactions.

Worked well for headaches, but made joint pain worse for me. Not sure why no steroid is helping my joints.

I'm on day two of this medication that was prescribed to me by my dentist after having some swelling and irritation from two root canals. The swelling in my lymph nodes has gone down and the pressure in my ear is gone but I'm noticing shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat and a headache. I also have more anxiety than ever before. I'm stopping the medication. These side effects are extremely noticeable and although I'm getting relief from the medication, it's not worth the risk of damaging my heart.

Had a bulging disk in my neck and the steroid pak didn't help.

I was prescribed the medrol dose pack (6 day taper) to take down the inflammation in a chronic sinus infection I've had so that my sinuses could heal. I skipped the last two doses (about 8mg together) after I noticed the drug was making me prone to panic attacks. Often those attacks would wake me up in the middle of the night with a fear of death. The insomnia and anxiety warnings from your Drs might seem less serious than other side effects you'll read about regarding long term use but definitely take care of yourself while you're on this drug. Because panic attacks have very similar symptoms to heart attacks 24hr nurse lines will encourage you to get care immediately. I visited the emergency room so wired I felt like I was going to throw up, pass out, with heart pinching and they said my vitals were fine. Obviously that could mean different things for different people -- I don't bring this up to diminish that -- I only bring this up because the physical effects of anxiety (through panic attacks & in general) can be very real. Visiting urgent care and talking to my therapist was really helpful for me in managing my side effects. My urgent care doctor told me that the most common complaint they hear about the drug is panic attacks. For some people who tend towards depression it can lift them up like drinking coffee or something. For others like me who tend towards anxiety it tips us over the edge. Apparently steroids like these used to be prescribed pretty liberally as an anti-inflammatory before "non-steroidal" anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen were invented. The most helpful tool I learned from my therapist is called "tapping" -- a technique where you rhythmically tap pressure points on your body to help you get your breathing / body under control. It helped me a lot once I understood that what I was experiencing was panic attacks. About a week after stopping I'm basically back to my usual brain. I've noticed a slight improvement in my sinus pain since taking the drug. My sinuses flushed for a few days like crazy which was awesome. Now I'm back to a sort of dull pain. I'd probably have a better sense of whether this worked or not if I'd completed the taper as prescribed. I'm confident this drug helps some people but I think if I were going to take it again I would: A. Start on a weekday for better access to my pharmacist / doctor to ask questions. B. Find good tools for managing my anxiety (Tapping, Breathing, +). C. Read less about side effects. (Most of the severe side effects are for people who take steroids like this longer term)

Lumbar disk flattening and arthritis, thoracic vertbrea injury. Chronic condition causing intense pain periodically over many years. 6 day oak had resolved chronic pain several times with minimal side effects (dizziness, night alertness). I just starting a second dose this time. Hoping tof a full recovery.

I feel bad for the people who have experienced such bad side effects. It's always worked for me. This time I'm taking it for arthritis in my lumbar spine. It's taken a couple of days but it's really working for me now. No anxiety, no sleeplessness, no tummy ache, no headache. And the pain is down by about 80%.

Was on this twice back to back after sinus surgery. My anxiety was horrible, panic attacks, still have a horrible migraine now. Caused my blood pressure to still be high. Worst indigestion ever. Triggered my vertigo. Would never touch this stuff again ever.

This stuff should be pumped into the drinking water supply
