What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Miconazole Vaginal?
Common side effects of Miconazole Vaginal include:
- mild burning or itching,
- skin irritation around the vagina, and
- frequent urination
Serious side effects of Miconazole Vaginal include:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing, and
- swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
Rare side effects of Miconazole Vaginal include:
- none
Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:
- Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors;
- Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights;
- Serious heart symptoms such as fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, lightheartedness, or passing out.

Adult dosage
- Vaginal 2% Cream: 1 applicatorful every night x 7 days
- Vaginal 4% Cream: 1 applicatorful every night x 3 days
- 100 mg vaginal suppository: Insert 1 suppository every night x 7 days
- 200 mg vaginal suppository: Insert 1 suppository every night x 3 days
- 1,200 mg vaginal suppository: Insert 1 suppository once
Pediatric dosage
- Aged below 12 years
- Safety and efficacy not established
- Aged above 12 years
- Vaginal 2% Cream: 1 applicatorful every night x 7 days
- Vaginal 4% Cream: 1 applicatorful every night x 3 days
- 100 mg vaginal suppository: Insert 1 suppository every night x 7 days
