- Pull down the lower lid of the affected eye and apply a small amount (one-fourth inch) of ointment to the inside of lower eyelid

Warnings
This medication contains mineral oil/petrolatum ophthalmic. Do not take Systane Nighttime Lubricant Eye Ointment if you are allergic to mineral oil/petrolatum ophthalmic or any ingredients contained in this drug.
Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.

Cautions
- Remove contact lenses before use
- Discontinue if eye pain, vision changes, or persistent irritation/redness occurs
- Discontinue if condition worsens or persists more than 72 hours
Pregnancy and Lactation
Use mineral oil/petrolatum ophthalmic with caution during pregnancy if benefits outweigh risks. Animal studies show risk and human studies are not available or neither animal nor human studies were done.
It is not known if mineral oil/petrolatum ophthalmic is distributed in milk.
Pregnant or breastfeeding patients should seek advice of a health professional before using over-the-counter (OTC) drugs.
