What Are the Dosages of Modified Ragweed Tyrosine Adsorbate?
Dosages of Modified Ragweed Tyrosine Adsorbate:
- Each patient treatment package consists of 4 prefilled sterile syringes each containing 0.5 mL of suspension.
Dosage Considerations – Should be Given as Follows:
- Used to prevent or reduce allergic symptoms caused by exposure to ragweed.
- The vaccine is given in 4 doses, each containing increasing amounts of the ragweed pollen. The injections should be started by the end of June. The injections are given at 7-day intervals so the last has been used by the beginning of August.
- The injections should be kept in the refrigerator between 2 to 8°C until they are needed. The syringe that will be used should be allowed to come to room temperature before it is used.
- The safety and effectiveness have not been established for children under 8 years of age.
What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Modified Ragweed Tyrosine Adsorbate?
Side effects of modified ragweed tyrosine adsorbate include:
- Itching
- Mild hives
- Pain or swelling at the site of injection
- Rash
- Stuffy nose
- Swelling
- Wheezing
Serious side effects of modified ragweed tyrosine adsorbate include:

- The patient does not have a skin test reaction and clinical sensitivity to ragweed
- Any medical conditions that may result in uncontrolled bleeding
