Nedocromil Ophthalmic is a prescription medication indicated for the treatment of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis.

What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Nedocromil Ophthalmic?

Common side effects of Nedocromil Ophthalmic include:

  • burning/stinging/irritation of the eye
  • itchy eyes
  • eye redness
  • headache
  • stuffy/runny nose
  • bad or unpleasant taste in the mouth
  • increased eye sensitivity to light

Serious side effects of Nedocromil Ophthalmic include:

  • swelling of the eye
  • stinging or burning of the eyes
  • blurred vision
  • increased eye redness or itching

Rare side effects of Nedocromil Ophthalmic include:

  • none

Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:

  • Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, coordination loss, unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors;
  • Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights;
  • Serious heart symptoms include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out.

What Are the Dosages of Nedocromil Ophthalmic?

Adult and pediatric dosage

Ophthalmic solution

  • 2%

Allergic conjunctivitis

Adult dosage

  • Instill 1 to 2 drops in each eye twice daily throughout the time of exposure (i.e., until pollen season is over or the offending allergen is terminated)

Pediatric dosage

  • Children younger than 3 years: Safety and efficacy not established
  • Children older than 3 years: As adults; instill 1 to 2 drops in each eye twice daily throughout the time of exposure (i.e., until pollen season is over or the offending allergen is terminated)
