Ophthalmic Solution

  • (1.75 mg/10,000/0.025 mg)/1mL (10mL)

Dosage Considerations – Should be Given as Follows:

Treatment and Prevention of Ocular Infection and/or Inflammation

  • 1-2 drops every 4-6 hours for 7-10 days; if severe 2 drops every 1 hour if necessary

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Eye itching, swelling, and redness
  • Local transient irritation
  • Vesicular and maculopapular dermatitis

What Are Warnings and Precautions for Neomycin/Polymyxin B/Gramicidin Ophthalmic? 

Warnings

  • This medication contains neomycin/polymyxin B/gramicidin ophthalmic. Do not take Gramicidin, Neosporin Ophthalmic Solution, or Neocin-PG if you are allergic to neomycin/polymyxin B/gramicidin ophthalmic or any ingredients contained in this drug.
  • Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.

Contraindications

  • Aminoglycoside/neomycin hypersensitivity; hypersensitivity to any product component

Cautions

  • Watch for neomycin ocular sensitivity
  • Defects in visual acuity may occur with prolonged use
  • Posterior sub papular cataract formation, and secondary ocular infections were reported with prolonged use

Pregnancy and Lactation

  • Use neomycin/polymyxin B/gramicidin ophthalmic with caution during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Animal studies show risk and human studies are not available or neither animal nor human studies were done.
  • It is unknown if neomycin/polymyxin B/gramicidin ophthalmic is excreted in breast milk. Use caution while breastfeeding.
