What Is Nilutamide and How Does It Work?
Nilutamide is a prescription medication indicated for use in combination with surgical castration for the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer (stage D2).

What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Nilutamide?
Common side effects of Nilutamide include:
- hot flashes
- sweating
- dizziness
- loss of sexual interest/ability
- impotence
- vision changes (such as difficulty seeing when moving into the dark or light, changes in color vision)
- stomach pain
- constipation
- nausea
- signs of alcohol intolerance (such as flushing, tiredness)
- dry skin
- increased sensitivity to touch/pain
- loss of body hair
- nausea
- vomiting
- skin rash
- loss of appetite
Serious side effects of Nilutamide include:
- hives
- difficulty breathing
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat
- chest pain
- wheezing
- dry cough
- fever
- new or worsening shortness of breath
- flu symptoms
- pale skin
- tiredness
- nausea
- vomiting
- loss of appetite
- stomach pain (upper right side)
- dark urine
- yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
Rare side effects of Nilutamide include:
- none
Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:
- Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, coordination loss, unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors
- Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights
- Serious heart symptoms include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, light-headedness, or passing out

What Are the Dosages of Nilutamide?
Adult dosage
Tablet
- 150 mg
Prostate Cancer
Adult dosage
- 300 mg orally once a day for 30 days, then
- 150 mg orally once a day
- Begin treatment on the same day as or the day after surgical castration
