I have been seeing pain management doctors for over 12 years and been on the exact same medication and dosage up til now. My doctor actually lowered it, which is ridiculous! I had went to a new primary care doctor little over year ago and he convinced me to let him do my pain management. He tried this medication and it was 1000% useless. Totally worthless! Had headaches. It was like taking nothing. He would not put me back on my original medication. He accused me of being an addict. He was a total nut! The price of this is ridiculous, didn’t have to pay anything thankfully! Would not recommend it to anyone
I have a prescription that I take twice a day. (9 mg), so I take 60/month. Sometimes I take both at bedtime, and sometimes I take one pill, but not at bedtime. So, should I fall asleep, I have 9mg already working in my body. I have degenerative disk disease and take four doses of oxycodone 10mg/.325 acetaminophen. The Xtampza helps me through the night or when I can’t take my oxycodone for some reason. I used to take OxyContin (20 mg), but learned that some young people were allowing the candy-coating, crushing up the white chemical and snorting it or worse. Xtampza is doper proof. I like that feature most of all. Xtampza has worked well for me and I’d recommend to those who need long lasting pain relief. (CAUTION) Narcotics are habit forming!
My pain doctor put me on this “pain capsule” it has been terrible, I have been on painkillers for years and I know what works and what doesn’t and this DOES NOT work I totally agree with all of these reviews that this pain ha ha medicine throws you into withdrawal I have been taking these capsules for about 3 weeks now and I feel worse now than before I started taking them, I am 71 years old and suffer from 3 forms of arthritis, with all of these negative reviews you think someone needs to wake up with all of the pain meds that are out there if you find something that works then prescribe them!! And also throw these in the GARBAGE because that is what these are
I had to switch to this because of insurance. For me it only lasts 7 hours, tops! I don't get a lot of relief as well.
I had been taken Hysingla for several years and insurance increased 8 times since my last prescription, so I request something less expensive. It was seven days without the meds and was in great pain. Everything was ok'd for Xtampza ER and after one day pain is less than with Hysingla. So after a couple of days, it has been great, I hope it continues if not I will update.
It worked very well for me. I take 2 capsules and have no pain for 12 hours. I love it
It does nothing to help my horrible chronic back pain,I thought it was me but after doing my research I find its not just me, pain doctors know damn well that this medication is garbage , prescribed it to you then when you tell them it isn't working oh well deal with it,im hurt and pissed my pain doctor would do this to me,dont take this garbage its pointless and makes you feel sick
I was given these following another round of knew surgery. These are awful. 3 hours in I'm getting ZERO pain relief. I have to wait hours to take another. These are the absolute worst pain pills I have ever taken. Absolutely ZERO pain relief and I'm shaking from extreme pain I DO NOT RECOMMEND these AT ALL. ZERO OUT OF five
Medicine does not work, takes 3-4 hours to kick in, I started having withdrawal symptoms after 10 hours. I tried taking it with food, without food, I stopped taking some of my meds to see if they interacted. Absolutely nothing I did made it work in fact my pain got worse.
If you think you’re crazy and your doctor keeps telling you that this is the same as other opioid medications READ MORE REVIEWS! Like many on here I also have had a terrible experience with Xtampza. At first doctors said it would just take time for my plasma levels to fill… several months later still zero relief. I also have many side effects including terrible stomach pain no matter how clean my diet. Then later more side effects… breaking out sweating randomly and then my face gets hives and bright red. Most recently my skin has become so sensitive that I can’t even take a shower - it’s like needles shooting me. After the cold shower even I’m all red and itchy. I’ve been treated for chronic pain for 15 years and have never experienced this misery, EVEN stopping all meds cold turkey several times and this is WAY WORSE!
My insurance would not cover my oxycontin this month so the doctor put me XTAMPZA ER and it was a horrible experience. I had headaches, dizziness, vomiting, talking in my sleep and not able to control my pain
I am beginning to wonder if this med is a Placebo. It doesn't touch my pain. . What's the point of doctors prescribing something they know doesn't work for someone.I am 58 and have many painful conditions. I know what works best for my body and helps me function.No-one listens or cares anymore.
I was taking Oxycontin 80 mg twice a day, with Dilaudid for break thru pain. This combination worked great and I could function and work normally. After 10 years on the same dosage, all the Purdue Oxycontin lawsuits happen and I'm left paying $600 a month for brand name O.c. (my cost.. Insurance picked up $1300) bc it's not available in the generic now. Insurance wanted me switched to Xtamza er.. I have chronic pancreatitis from septic shock and D.I.C. and am in severe pain every day. Xtampza put me into severe opioid withdrawal, so bad that the Dr's receptionist didn't recognize me. They immediately gave me meds to help the withdrawal. I began having tiny blisters all over my hands and chest from this, along with no ( and I truly mean 0) pain relief. It's the coating on it that doesn't dissolve in your stomach to let the medication out. Because of addicts, chronic pain patients in real pain suffer, and needlessly. Addicts are going to do what they need to in order to get what they want, putting a coating on it, etc only hurts the pain patients. This is the worst pain med I've ever had. Switched back over.
It seems to work well for mild to moderate pain after an hour of taking it but almost does nothing for severe pain. I think it has to do with the abuse deterrent properties and it being fat soluble instead of hydrochloride.
I don’t get all the negative reviews. Just started this and it’s working wonderfully. Much better than oxycodone IR. It’s great having my pain controlled the whole day and night. Having to take it with a full meal is the only downside really but not even that much.
It seems that if I don't eat "all day" that the pain relief is minimal. I have other things to do besides eat! Only relief for about 6 hours even though it's a 12 hour pill. I'm supposed to take 2 a day but if I take a pill after 5 or 6 pm, I don't sleep at all! On a scale from 1-10 I give this medication a 5.5.
Doesn’t work for pain. Lowers quality of life. Just part of the chronic pain community being punished for the actions of others. The only positive is that it doesn’t totally wear off at 8-9 hours but then again, it also doesn’t work for pain.
Have cancer and they put me on this.Might as well just take a aspirin.Doesnt do anything for my pain. And now my pain has started going down my right leg all of the way to my foot.I wish that I had something good to say about it but I don't.
I just recently got off the pain pump and went through bad withdrawals the last month of emptying all of the Dilaudid from my pain pump, I'll never have a pain pump in again, I went through 5 months lowering my pain pump and now that 8m done they put me on oxycodone 10/325 every 6 hrs , which helped better than the XTampra ER does it does not work for me at all I'm going to have to tell my pain management Dr it's not working for every 12 hrs lol really that's a joke, I'm going back to taking my oxycodone since I still have some left till I go back to PM, I'm in so much pain I fell at Walmart after previous 6 surgeries, that fell . And now I feel at Walmart and damaged my hardware in my back also a ruptured disk that was fused and I have a cage to hold up my spine and doctor said that the MRI shows that the cage is 50% falling into my stomach, if it does I have no idea what the out come is , cause I have also a screw going into my pelvis and it's sticking out a 8th of a inch so I have to have a 3rd opinion due to the surgery complications?? and not sure if I will be able to even have another surgery so I may have to live with ??what I got unless they can go in and take the cage out or fix it back up to hold my spine I'm not sure I'm not don't know what's going on to tell you the truth but my pain is severe and I can't stand it but like I say those extended release oxycodone pills the generic they do not work at all so that's my story, ????????

I was taking 30mg Morphine sulfate er every 8 hrs. Xtampza does not last 12hrs. After 6 to 7 hours I'm feeling pain .I hate this drug shortage.
