Extreme diarrhea, gas, lower back pain. DO NOT take this medicine. Change diet instead of trying medicine that will make things worst.
This pill is the only medicine that helps me with bowel movements. Even though it still gives me diarrhea, I'll rather have this then to be constipated in pain. I've been taking this pill for 5 months now..
The literature on this medicine states it will take several days, even weeks before it will begin to work. This is false. It started working within 30 minutes. Diarrhea was so severe for 6 hours or more. I took it again the next day only half a tablet. It took two hours before the Diarrhea and cramping started, and it was just as severe. Also, I could not eat anything during this process. I felt like I was going to throw up. Everyone says not to give up but I'm not sure I can take another day like the past two days. This is brutal. I want for this to help my idiopathic constipation but at what cost.
Been taking Trulance for two months and am well satisfied, previously I had experienced constipation for three years and the different types of metamucil and miralax were not helping Trulance has worked for me since day one without diarrhea or other complications It has changed my life would not be without it
Trulance works very well and it’s the only thing that helped me. However, it took a month before it started working. Also, I have discovered it works best if I take it on an empty stomach in the morning with a glass of water. Oh, but beware, when it did start to work it made me go on myself while sleep because the stool was too lose, but after that one time I started having normal bowel movements. Nothing else worked for me, but Trulance and now I have normal bowel movements especially if i am not dehydrated.
IBS-C for over 20 years, gastroenterologist wanted me to try this. Hands down the most horrible experience with a medication ever. Took at the same time each day, drank over a gallon of water and plenty of exercise daily, no sugar, processed food, or fried foods. Within an hour, explosive diarrhea which continued for at least 5 hours. Stuck with it for 2 weeks, every night spent with diarrhea. Woke up with blood all over the sheets, apparently anal fissure. If there is a hell, Trulance is the drug of choice there.
I been taking this for 9 days. It worked on and off. Then one take I take it. It works but I had the worse burning pain in my stomach and very bloated.
On my 13th day. Explosive diarrhea finally gone but not evacuating entirely with bloating in waistline and lots of gas after lunch til bedtime, plus tummy gurgling. The bowling ball Has moved from low gut to waistline now showing up mid afternoon. Had one day feeling normal in 13. Bm once or twice in mornings now - soft normal then 2-4 very loose tiny stools til Noon every day. After 8 days I had to take milk of mag (my go to until it caused awful diarrhea but at least it worked with no bloating and little gas!). I’m a day or two I’m going to take milk of mag to get the stuck poop in waistline out. Maybe might work in this manner? TBD. Lifelong CIC and I’m 80 and exhausted from it. Changed diet to Visbiome, chia, organic psyllium Husk, two doses miralaz, kiwis, raspberries, more almonds and as ever no to very little added sugar and not much red meat. Recommend weekly Chi Nei Tsang belly massage. Try it too!
The very first time I took the medication I had severe diarrhea to the point Imodium was in order. I did take Linzess at one time until my insurance didn’t cover it. I am sure Trulance is fine just not with me.
Works within 3 hours of taking the pill. Just my second week and the flood gates are open. I was on Linzess for 4 months and nothing happened so my Dr recommended Truelance. Diarrhea over load . Drinking lots of water . I hope it gets better . I am just glad to be going
The reviews scared me so much that i only took a 1/4 pill the first few days and it had no effect. The next two days i took a half a pill. I finally have had some movements. No pain at all. A little bloating maybe. Not much side effects. No pain no diarhea. I think it's making me a little sleepy which i like since i always have insomnia. Give it a try. Just start slowly
I used it before when it was prescribed and it took about a day to work. Was bloated and had some mild cramps. Tonight, after about 8 months of not needing it, I had to take it again. It worked within 1 hour, I was trying to use an enema but had a hard time with it therefore had to take the pill. A lot of gas, lots of going to the bathroom since my stomach was making a lot noise and had the urge of going. The pill works, I just wish I could control it more. Next time I will take half the pill. Not sure if I can go to work tomorrow....will see the effects of it in the morning.
I suggest taking this medication 5 to 4 hours prior to bed. You definitely need to be near a bathroom where you are comfortable letting the flood gates open. It took about 4 days to start working. You'll have the pure runs about 2 to 4 hours after taking it. That'll last a couple a hours before you get control of it. After a week of taking it I skipped a couple doses, because of my grandfather's funeral then going on a long over night trip. I can't have a bowel movement without it though. As for the side effects everyone has mentioned. I've only experienced a little but of stomach discomfort and nauseous , but I had before starting the medication. Not sure if it's just the normal thing I've had or the medication. It definitely didn't improve that. The stomach bloating hasn't improved. I've actually had to cut my food intake majorly since starting it because I can't take the swollen stomach feeling anymore. I do feel like I have to poop most of the time, which is annoying because I can't until I take the pill. The diarrhea has decreased somewhat. I'm about two and half weeks into it. Not sure I want to continue having the runs every night. I don't even want to spend the night with my boyfriend. Forget the alone time! Follow up appointment next week, so I'll see what she says. I know I can't do this forever. My job doesn't allow time for to take it during the day. If you have a busy life good luck!
It took about 8 days before it started to work. When it did, it worked for a few weeks and again I was back to where I had started off with no movement. This time it was followed with severe gas and bloating like crazy. I can barely eat now and still in pain. It was great when it worked but now I'm worse.
Took and 45 mins later diarrhea....bad. it's not worth it if you can't leave the bathroom or your house. No one needs to be so empty your insides have collapsed.
In Nov 2022 I had a hemorrhoidectomy, Reconstructive colorectal surgery, (very painful surgery) just to have thrombosed/prolapsed hemorrhoids internally removed at the age of 43-I’m a female. I was put on Miralax to produce loose bowels to heal with all the stitches up on the inside. Took Miralax for 6 months. Was later prescribed Linzess which helped slow down how many times I was running to the restroom. Linzess was great until it felt like it wasn’t working at its full potential. My gastroenterologist prescribed me Trulance and have been on it for about 1 month now Nov 2023. There is at times where I have gas and bloating while making a bowel movement but for the most part is helps relieve any constipation. It works very well. It is activated by the amount of water one can drink through out the day. At times I have experienced small bouts of nausea, but not enough to stop taking it. I am satisfied with the results of this medicine and it has also helped me loose weight. I expect to be off medicine and return to a normal daily life but only time will tell. I also do not take the pill daily. It’s every other day to regulate my busy schedule I have, working on an ambulance. Eating a well balanced diet and drinking water helps my body regulate this medicine.
I've been taking Trulance for two weeks now. I've experienced no side effects and am having daily bowel movements. Prior to this, I had tried everything: linzess, miralax, lifestyle changes, you name it. I finally feel normal.
I have chronic constipation due to adhesions and scar tissue from endometriosis and 3 abdominal surgeries in the 70’s. As I’ve aged, my bowels are a mess and I’ve developed SIBO with constipation. Taking MiraLAX for years and it started tremendous bloating. My doctor gave me samples of.Trulance and with the first dose, I was in agony all night with sharp pains and bloating. I finally was able to pass some stool with a lot of difficulty. Now I’m scared to try it again. I’m glad to hear the I can cut the pill but not glad to hear about the price. Seriously doubt that I’ll get the guts to try it again anyway. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I wish I had read them before I took that pill.
I have struggled for four long years to find a product that actually works and I was lucky enough to find this which not only works but it doesn't have any side effects and I can take it whenever I want with or without food. It was a struggle to get insurance approval and a pharmacy to stock it but it was worth every effort. I rarely leave reviews and never for a medication but this Rx is really amazing.

Two hours after swallowing one pill I had violent and explosive disarray that made a colonoscopy prep seem like a walk in the park.this went on for 12 hours - until my mouth was bone dry and I couldn’t even blink my eyes I was so dehydrated. Horrific would be the best description.
