- Invasive disease caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes 3, 6A, 7F, 8, 9N, 10A, 11A, 12F, 15A, 15B, 15C, 16F, 17F, 19A, 20A, 22F, 23A, 23B, 24F, 31, 33F, and 35B
- Pneumonia caused by S pneumoniae serotypes 3, 6A, 7F, 8, 9N, 10A, 11A, 12F, 15A, 15C, 16F, 17F, 19A, 20A, 22F, 23A, 23B, 24F, 31, 33F, and 35B

What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Pneumococcal Vaccine 21-Valent?
Common side effects of Pneumococcal Vaccine 21-Valent include:
- pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site
- feeling tired
- headache
- muscle aches
- fever
Serious side effects of Pneumococcal Vaccine 21-Valent include:
- wheezing or trouble breathing
- swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
- hives
- rash
Rare side effects of Pneumococcal Vaccine 21-Valent include:
- none
Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:
- Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, coordination loss, unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors.
- Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights.
- Serious heart symptoms include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out.

Cautions
- Appropriate medical treatment must be immediately available to manage potential anaphylactic reactions following administration
- Individuals with altered immunocompetence, including those receiving immunosuppressive therapy, may have a reduced immune response
Pregnancy and Lactation
- There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Lactation
- Human data are not available to assess the impact on milk production, the presence in breast milk, or its effects on breastfed children
- Consider the developmental and health benefits of breastfeeding with the mother’s clinical need for immunization and any potential adverse effects on the breastfed child from the vaccine or underlying maternal condition
- For preventive vaccines, the underlying condition is susceptibility to disease prevented by the vaccine
