Povidone Iodine

Povidone Iodine is an over-the-counter medication used as a topical antiseptic and for surgical scrub.

• Apply the  solution to wet hands and scrub for 5 min

• Povidone Iodine has severe interactions with the following drug:
  • allogeneic cultured keratinocytes/fibroblasts in bovine collagen
• Povidone Iodine has serious interactions with the following drug:
  • collagenase
• Povidone Iodine has moderate interactions with no other drugs.
• Povidone Iodine has minor interactions with no other drugs.

Cautions

• Do not apply over large areas of the body; toxicity may occur if applied in large areas or prolonged periods
• Not for use in the eyes
• Use caution in patients with burns
• Ask a doctor in cases of deep or puncture wounds, serious burns, or animal bites
• Use caution in renal impairment or thyroid disorders
• Use with caution in children
• N/t for application to deep puncture wounds or serious burns
• Discontinue if swelling, redness, pain, or irritation develop, or if the condition persists or gets worse
• Do not use it for longer than 1 week
• Keep out of reach of children, if swallowed, get medical help or contact the poison control center right away
